I see FR doesn't welcome counter-punch links here, but you can go to Drudge to read it for yorself. Sue isn't just trying to gain sympathy, she is serious unstable. All the more reason to feature her at this profane, america-hating, Chompy-esque site.

One has to wonder. Was she an anti-war activist BEFORE her son joined? Could it be she is exploiting her sons death for partisan political aims? Of course, the ONLY source for all these claims is the deranged woman. If you SAW the pictures rather then just READ the reports, this woman was competely out of control, NOT with grief, she was completely metally unhindged. If she had acted that way ANY where else she would of been thrown in a padded cell. The only reason she is getting the kids gloves treatment by the "news" media is because they are dressing it up as a "Free Speech" issue. IF say a Vietnam Vet went to a KERRY rally and acted like this, the Vet would NOT be given all this sympathetic treatment. Sorry, wrapping herself in her son's death to advance partisan political views is SICK not honorable.

I don't understand why this woman would demean her son's sacrifice in this manner. He did his duty, he gave his life. He is a hero. And she turns it to dirt. I don't get it.

"Mom" needs some mental health help. Parading her dead son around for her own partisan political goals is just beyond the pale.

I guess nobody told the poor kid two very basic things:

1) Recruiters lie.

2) The business of the army is to kill people and break things - this might put you in physical danger.

It's a shame that people are contributing to her anger. Anti-war activist that contact these families help them get stuck in the anger phase of grief.
Does anyone remember a post a long time ago about the incident surrounding her son's death. If memory serves correctly he was trying to defuse an IED when he was supposed to wait for the ordinance team. This has got to do a real number on her mental status with anger. She is probably angry at both him and herself and projecting. She needs help. ASAP.

Had he been killed by a drunk driver, a murderer, a fly ball at the ball park, a shark attack at the beach, a sky diving accident, by a jealous boyfriend of some girl he just met or by a heart attack, would life be any different for her now? The only difference would be who to blame...

Bitterness is a hard pill to swallow...

Unfortunately in order to read the whole article, I had to go to the original web site. What a putrid place! Sure hope no traces contaminate our computer.

Would not pay for the last two years of their son's education...I have to wonder why??

He wanted to work for FBI or CIA; she was anti-war for years. Any connection to the above?

He joined up..."not for patriotism," ...any connection to above?

She and hubby have established a scholarship account in his name. Guilt for the above?

The entire "interview" came off as typical Liberal hypocrisy, including her "useless" prayers.

"Send soup (sic) deoderant..." etc. to the troops to keep up their morale????

If it wouldn't make her a martyr, I would advocate for her being in a locked mental facility.

And just who would even suggest that a VOLUNTEER would never see combat? Even Kerry did his damnedest not to, and failed. Saw some, anyway; doesn't mean he was in any, any longer than it took to high-tail it back out of.

Stuff like this makes me think we should bring back wartime censorship.

In WWII, they'd never let that get published.

Seth, 24, was in debt after he graduated from Rutgers University in 2002.

So if he didn't want to be in debt, why didn't he choose a community college where he could afford the tuition? And why didn't his mom lend him the money or pay his tuition?

One suspects he joined it the service out of patriotism, but his mom still feels guilty about it, figuring if she hadn't been such a penny pinching cheapskate, he wouldn't have "had" to join the army.

Ergo, she blames Bush. In psychiatry, this is called projection: You can't blame yourself, so you blame someone else.

I'm sorry her son was killed. I'm sorry for all the families of dead solders. I am also very sympathetic for the families of the innocent 9-11 victims who never signed up to put their lives on the line, as her son did. The military offers some good benefits for people who are financially challenged, but with that does come a chance you could lose your life; which is why we have a voluntary military.

would help land him a job with the CIA or FBI -- his dream jobs. "Not for patriotism," said his mother, Sue Niederer

Do we really want "not patriots" working at the CIA or FBI? Seems that causes a lot of trouble.

What kind of man joins the military during wartime with the goal of eventually becoming an FBI or CIA agent without having a sense of patriotism?

I don't think Seth's patriotism should be questioned. He was 24 years old. I'm sure that he knew the risks involved before he signed up. His mother is transferring her own feelings onto her dead son which is a shame.

I suppose it's easier for her to blame President Bush for her son's death than it is to blame her son for the choice that he made. Grief-stricken or not, nothing excuses her comments regarding her desire to kill the President.

These stories really make me sick. I feel for the mother, but this young man was a college grad and was going in after 9/11. Does anyone who joins now honestly think they will not be involved in the war on terrorism. I don't care if the Pope told him he would be stateside, we are at war, use some common sense.

That said, God rest his soul and my hat goes off his family(no matter what his pinko mom says).
