Bang List: What's your opinion of 12-gauge Flechettes?

What do you thing of this ammunition?
Is it stable? Accurate? Lethal?
If you were PD/SWAT/Special Forces, would you use this ammunition in an "urban" anti-terrorism situation? [Assume your orders are something like "Maximize terrorist deaths while minimizing civilian deaths."]
Or are flechettes just a lot of fancy-schmantzy marketing gibberish?
Whether they're useful or not, they're certainly expensive. For instance, a single round of Federal 000 magnums [10 balls per shot] costs about $0.75:

Whereas a single round of Flechette Sabots [19 flechettes per shot] costs about $2.00: http://www.antipersonnel.net/sdllc/006.html
So: Any thoughts about this ammunition? Thanks!

Fact; Flechettes are not very deadly, certainly not nearly as deadly as a 000 buck ball, but will penetrate body armor very nicely.

The
Flechette Shell is mainly intended for penetrating body armor (flechettes are little darts)

Someone who wants to fight a cheap war.
So what is winning worth? What's the price of a soldiers life if these work better than 000 Buckshot?
We need to let the professionals figure out the answer to this question and then give them what they need. A pencil pusher making combat ordinance decisions. Sounds like sKerry crap to me.

Those that I made up from commercially prepared flechette and wad/cup assemblies worked very well but I shot very few of them. I did not want to have a lot of tractor tire damage laying out in the field.
Buck shot seems better to penetrate but the flechettes are effective at greater range.

Double 00 buck would be my choice.
Kills quick, which is what you are after if your shooting something.
If your trying to p/c then simply talk to them and save the ammo. ;)

I agree. The trauma of convetional shotgun balls is quite extensive. The target will be knocked down, and his inards will be in a world of hurt. At close range, it is like being hit by a car. Rounds may not penetrate, but he is pretty busted up.
