JUST THINK of all the time we wasted worrying about the culture gap, the religious gap, the class gap, and even the gender gap. Now we are told that the political future will rest in the fertility gap.
This is the latest bulletin from the demography-is-destiny crowd. The fate of red and blue America will come down to who is filling those pink and blue nurseries.
These tidings were brought to us recently by Phillip Longman, who worried in The Washington Post that liberals aren't having enough little liberals: "Conservative, religiously minded Americans are putting far more of their genes into the future than their liberal, secular counterparts."
I never knew there was a conservative gene. If so, can it be tweaked? Is that another reason to support stem cell research?
Longman went on to say, "When secular-minded Americans decide to have few, if any, children, they unwittingly give a strong evolutionary advantage to the other side of the culture divide." Imagine giving an evolutionary advantage to folks who don't believe in evolution.
Longman is the author of "The Empty Cradle," a book warning that the empty cradle won't be able to support a full rocking chair. But he isn't the only one saying that the right is out-breeding the left..........

News Flash to the Left: It's because we aren't murdering our babies in the womb!

Would be true, if not for the Mexicans on their side.
It's all about abortion, not birth rates.
Its funny hearing this worry about shrinking political clout from the abortion-with-no-strings-attached crowd. Gee, why does Ellen Goodman think liberals are in danger of fading in America? Good thing she isn't smart enough to connect the dots.
I am doing my part, I have four. They eat constantly, so my sacrifice should be apparent.
Boys with boys and girls with girls doesn't add to more LIBERALS either.
Hmmm, possibly but me and Mrs. Dawgg just practice a lot...

We're seeing the next conservative generation with our first grandchild (one year old).
It will if the Leftists succeed in warping the definition of marriage to include such abominations. Then the gays will legally be at liberty to adopt at will and pervert the minds of the innocents. That's what is really at the heart of this "gay marriage" nonsense.
A lot of Americans are fleeing the sick Democratic Party. They're joining the crowd that believes in a strong, moral America.
This just cracked me up, CW. Hmm, so maybe we should change our minds about abortion...and just allow liberals to do it!
Other Freepers may disagree with me, but, from my experience working with Mexican/Chicano youth in Chicago a few years back, you are correct. Unfortunately, since so many live in poverty, they support the Dems for the bennies. Contrary to what many on this site think, the support of Mexican-Americans for the Democrats has more to do with economic issues than cultural ones.
Good list. Indeed, Liberals believe that there is no evil save for the United States of America. To them, every other nation on Earth is an idyllic utopia...especially the Islamofascist nations. (Of course, if the Leftists got their way and the enemy prevailed, they don't realize that they'd be the first to die in the gallows.)
With 80 percent of precincts reporting, the amendment was winning approval with 79 percent of the vote and support for it was evident statewide. Only in New Orleans, home to a politically strong gay community, did the race appear to be close; incomplete returns there showed slightly more voters opposing the measure than approving it.
Christian conservatives had conducted an intense grassroots lobbying campaign for the amendment. Gene Mills of the Louisiana Family Forum outlined a statewide effort relying on word of mouth, meetings with pastors from different regions and some paid media.
The measure had been expected to pass easily, and the civil rights group Forum for Equality had already promised legal action. A first round of court fights was turned away by state courts that said an election cannot be challenged until the vote is taken....**
That's how they hook them - poor, ignorant, old - they make them dependent.
