Florida robbed in Tennessee, caught on video (blatant corruption)
CBS tv | 9/18/04 | callingcardscammer

Posted on 09/18/2004 8:44:49 PM PDT by Diddle E. Squat

What an absolute travesty. Tennessee fans should be ashamed.

55 seconds left, at Tennessee clock running, Florida up by 1 at midfield with the ball, 4th down, clock will run down another 30 seconds before punting. Ref is staring right at a UT player and a Florida player. TN player then slaps UF player on helmet as ref watches, then UF player retaliates, paid off ref throws flag on UF, stopping the clock and giving UT 15 extra yards. Not offsetting, just a complete homer call. UT makes a 50 yard field goal with 13 seconds left.

Totally tainted faux victory.

Best paid team in college sports saved by a bogus call.

Too bad. Go Vols. That wasn't the only blown call tonight.

Hey, I'm no Vol fan...but everyone knows the retaliator always gets caught...them's the breaks. You sound like a sore loser to me.

Are you sure that actually happened? CBS might have fabricated it.

I am so glad this game is over, like I am every year. I am that very rare individual who is both a Vol and a Gator fan. Most folks think that is impossible. Tennessee is home, best year of my life in Florida.

Made me want to scream. Ref was staring at both head slaps. Homer call.

Sorry, I hate Florida and always root against them, but that was utterly ridiculous. That wasn't a blown call, the ref watched the whole thing, it was a purposeful decision that will likely result in his suspension by the league next week.

Unfortunately Tennessee sports has a long and sordid history, so I cut them zero slack. What a travesty, this goes up there with Colorado's fifth down 'win'. UT fans should be embarrassed.

As a completely impartial observer, tuned in midway thru the 4th and couldn't care less who won, I agree. That side judge was either blind or on the dole.

The guy stood there and seemingly watched the UT guy slap the UF guy and then almost stood there as to wait to see if the UF guy would retaliate. There wasn't even a reason to have been watching at that point as the play was long over by then. Long.

I must admit, it couldn't look fishier.

No sore loser, just hate blatent corruption. Yeah, I'd have no problem if the ref missed the first slap and just busted the retaliation, it happens all the time. But the ref was staring right at the two before the first hit. No excuses for that ridiculous call. Either offsetting or no call, you don't hand the game to the home team like that.

We don't know what might have been said. Pure speculation on my part. It certainly looks like the ref could have seen who struck first.
All things considered, it was a great game with all the drama one could want. My hat is off to both teams.

Yeah, and Brady didn't fumble nor did Rob Lytle.

No sympathy for any of you here.
