FREEREPUBLIC RECORDS HIGHEST EVER NEW SIGNUPS ON SEP 16, 2004 - WELCOME NEWBIES!
Freerepublic.com ^ | September 18, 2004 | nwrep

The ongoing controversy over the fake CBS documents and the prominent role played in shedding the light on this by Freerepublic.com has caused an unprecendented surge in new memberships on the website.

Thursday, September 16, 2004 should be remembered as a landmark day for this website. On that day, more new users signed up on Freerepublic.com than on any single day before.

Click here for a running tally of daily new signups that the website keeps.

The 390 users signed up on the website eclipsed sign-up spikes caused during other newsworthy events, such as the Florida recount during the 2000 election, and the events of September 11, 2001.

The name of the website has been publicized widely in many media outlets as the source of the first revelation that the CBS memos were forgeries.

According to web traffic tracking site Alexa, Freerepublic.com has shown a remarkable increase in traffic over the last few weeks, as shown below:

Note from founders of the website: Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side.

Thanks for the advice. I'm one of those "newbies," drawn to FR by the media exposure, although I am a longtime political junkie. I enjoy being able to go to the site quickly and get the latest news and get perspective I never see or hear in the MSM. One feature I've really enjoyed discussions on FR while viewing news on television. It keeps me from yelling at the TV. I've also enjoyed checking the site during the day while I listen to the radio, when possible

I hope long-time posters will appreciate the influx of new participants and live with some of our "mistakes." However, as a business owner, (mid-size advertising agency) I don't have a lot extra time to review every every other post before posting or responding, as I'm sure many hard-working conservatives on the site experience as well.

I hope posting isn't just for those with a lot of extra time on their hands. I also hope a "country club" atmosphere doesn't develop here...I'm already a member of a CC, but I don't have much time for that, either.

The strength and influence of this site will be greatly enhanced by the new blood. I hope to add as much as I can to the forum. I congratulate the founders and those who make it possible.

BTW...this is my longest post yet...I'm in my pajamas on a Sunday.

This place is addictive. At one time we were called the stickyist site on the Internet due to the amount of time posters stayed on the site. It drew you in, and it was hard to put down.

Well, I'm one of the *newbies* on this site. I also wear pajamas and am proud of it! Love this site and what it stands for. Count me in.

I agree. It's like going to the rally when the President was in my home town. All these diverse people, drawn together by common virtues.

It's quite a release to express your views and have discussions. It's almost better than the first time I watched Fox and at least got both sides of an issue! Boy, the libs hate that one!

BTW...it's still Saturday. Sorry.

But beware! Being a conservative and being a butthead are not mutually exclusive attributes.

No doubt. I let my normally curtailed cynicism/belligerence get the best of me last night. I reported to the principle's office and had my comments removed.

Okay, since seems to be the right thread:

I'm assuming a "troll" is a liberal.

Don't know what "DU" is.

A little help from elders, please.

Very cool. It's all the people at the various news organizations trying to scoop each other.

I already know everyone at Fox reads here- you see SO much stuff that is straight out of FR. AND I LOVE IT!

Welcome aboard. I used to sit in front of the TV and scream at the lopsided coverage during the Clinton years. I found Free Republic from Drudge when he linked to FR. Then I joined the DC Chapter of Free Republic.com and began actively protesting. Free Republic is addictive, but you will always be well informed about what's happening in the news and on the political front.

Welcome.
There are thousands of us from all walks of life and styles.
Many are here constantly, some are in and out depending on events.
We share a common purpose, and can contribute to the discussion, even move it forward. (ALL HAIL BUCKHEAD).
When things get hot, it is the place to be (Elections, 9-11, Impeachment).
Not a CC by any means. We are the Revolution.
