Did Father Stage Alleged Attack?
The Times Ptriot ^ | Sept. 17, 2004

Posted on 09/18/2004 6:45:29 AM PDT by Mean Daddy

September 17, 2004 — Phil Parlock and three of his children visited the Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va., yesterday to catch a glimpse of Democratic vice-presidential candidate John Edwards. Parlock, a staunch Republican, and his family were there to show support for the Bush-Cheney ticket when they were assaulted by Kerry supporters, according to a report in the local paper, The Herald-Dispatch.

What the Herald-Dispatch failed to report, however, is that Parlock also claimed to be the victim of similar assaults at the hands of Democratic renegades in 1996 and 2000 — a fact that casts doubts on Parlock's new claims.

Parlock's latest claim certainly is filled with the sort of drama that makes for a fine photo op. Sophia, his three-year-old daughter, was holding a Bush-Cheney sign when angry Democrats ripped the sign from her tiny hands, making her burst into tears. A photographer with the Associated Press happened to be right there to capture the heartbreaking tears leaking from Sophia's innocent eyes as she perched on her father's shoulders.

Compare this latest event with what allegedly happened to Parlock's family in 2000, when they tried to show support for Bush at a rally for Al Gore. At that rally, son Louis, then 12, had signs ripped right from his hands, according to a front-page report in the October 28, 2000, edition of the Charleston (W.Va.) Daily Mail. "I did not expect people to practically attack us," said Louis.

Or to what happened at a pro-Clinton event in 1996, as also reported in the Daily Mail. As he tried to display a sign that read "Remember Vince Foster," Parlock claims that Clinton supporters knocked him to the ground. "It must have been a strict Democrat who did this," said Parlock.

And then there's September 3 of this year, when, according to a WCHS-TV news report, a gunshot allegedly was fired into Cabell County Republican Headquarters where supporters gathered to watch coverage of the Republican National Convention. Among the alleged victims who managed to escape death that day? None other than Phil Parlock.

Parlock, a real-estate agent who was a regional coordinator for the Bush campaign in 2000, has unsuccessfully sought election to the Cabell County Board of Education on four separate occasions.

Parlock has ignored e-mails from The Times-Patriot asking him to comment on this story.

There was a thread titled: KERRY GOON MAKES 3-YEAR-OLD CRY--(Info on the Parlocks) dealing with this issue.

WHAT father would knowingly stage an attack to hurt his 3 year old?

They also claim that the cop in NY who was stomped by a bunch of Tolerant people actually set it all up too. And they have proof: every time WTO protestors, hairly-legged women or peaceful people stage protests, that cop's there. That cop's just looks for trouble. Some of his buddies staged another public relations stunt some years ago when they ran into two buildings that had been struck by aircraft (piloted by freedom fighters who were just doing their jobs). They died - which just shows you how far these people will go to conrol how we think.

Actually I'd like to know what kind of idiot would bring his 3 year old daughter into a situation like that. West Virginia is a hardcore slobber knocker Dem state. They play rough. During the convention someone shot at the WV RNC headquarters and not a soul has been arrested yet.

Should be pretty simple to prove one way or the other. Who are the guys in the picture who did the deed? Does anybody know?

West Virginia is a hardcore slobber knocker Dem state.

I believe that Bush took W. Va in 2000. Its coal country and democrat politicians, as a general rule, hate coal.

He goes to Dem rallies as often as he can because he believes that's a good way to protest. If you go to enough Dem rallies you're bound to be assaulted more than once. These leftwing nutjobs can't handle anyone not blindly accepting the Dem party line as the gospel.

The union investigated and is dealing with the perp. They issued a statement to that effect. So I would think this article is BS because the union in effect admitted the attack to be true.

Little girl gets apology from union
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1219090/posts

I haven't been following this story, but it seems unlikely
that someone would apologize if there was no real attack.

The tinhats at DU cooked up the "fake" theory, and then
went back to authoring historical Bush documents.

Good question. The atmosphere has been so polluted by RatherGate that everything will now be examined with a microscope, and the DU crowd is itching for a leftist version of the fraudulent memo discovery by bloggers.

I have mixed feelings about this story. From a perception standpoint, the fact that this has happened to Parlock several times before is not good. I know he has every right to take his daughter to a rally, but if this man had been mugged (again) while talking a walk in a bad part of town with cash sticking out of his pockets, would we be applauding his courage or questioning his intelligence?

These attacks do not need 'staging' - you only have to be there -

Now, does he like to 'be there' and subject himself and his family to a certain victim celebrity?

Ask the Onion!

The article is crap speculation that has already been debunked by the apology of the Union president. The father has regularly attended Democrat rallies over the years to show oppositional support- no yelling or rude behavior, just passive sign-holding.
It's the same typical aggressive behavior from his attackers that their party shows regularly.

My take is the father is a man of strong faith and traditional values, huge family of 10 children, and very active in his local community, & a career in real estate, so people know him well.
I'm sure when they're attending rallies it causes notice because of the size of the family and the fact that in these smaller town areas everyone knows who he is. It only seems logical to me that his experiences get reported on by the local papers and the press pool picks up on it.It would be silly to think someone that well-known in his community would do this when anyone could ID his children.

Good for him, I say. Good for his children to learn what our electoral process is, warts and all. Never would I have thought thugs would assault a 3-yr old as they did. Two of his older children have recently posted here regarding this incident (spiderman9 and big_sis10, I think) and it is on the level. His oldest 2 are serving in the guard.

Loved the stupid final sentence that the Time's emails have not been returned. DUH! I bet they've received thousands regarding this incident. Their mailbox is likely kicking them back or even blocking them at this point.
(((My love & support to all the Parlocks, especially little Sophia.)))

I think that is the point people should be making--how many Freepers have had signs ripped up, and in some cases, suffered beatings at the hands of all those "tolerance now" liberals?
