Who is your favorite conservative radio talk show host?

I was just wondering what everyone's favorite talk radio show is. My favorite is Glenn Beck. Your thoughts?

Here's how I rate them:

1. Hugh Hewitt: Very sharp and doesn't let deceptive liberals get away with anything.

Tied for 2. Rush, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Larry Elder, Roger Hedgecock: All of them are otstanding.

Tied for 3. Dennis Prager, Dr. Walter Williams.

Michael Medved does an excellent show, but like you I have a hard time listening to him. He has this way of talking down to the audience, as though he is much more intelligent and educated than the audience. Sometimes he sounds like he's teaching a class of fifth graders. This is the same thing that I find so annoying about Al Gore--he talks down to his audience. Even the liberal press got tired of Gore talking down to them.

I have to say though that it was Rush that got me interested in politics. I started listening to him in 1996 during lunch hour in Atlanta. I sent him an email once in '97 and he talked about it on the air. Until I started listening to Rush I didn't know anything about how awful the Clintons are. It took a lot of courage to be the lone broadcasting voice against the Clintons back in the mid-90's and Rush deserves a great deal of credit for that.

Bill Bennett......I would listen to his show before Rush, Hannity, Gallagher, Prager, Laura Ingraham, Hewitt, and others.

Rush is GREAT, but Bennett is OUTSTANDING.

I have several..Rush of course for being the first successful one to pave the way, Neal Boortz, and Hannity. Recently I have heard Glen Beck and he does a really good job. Also when I get a chance to hear Michael Reagan, I like him too. He is a gentleman.

Best TV political show ever... Firing Line with William F. Buckley. Damn he was GOOD! Leaning back in that chair of his... eyeballs popping as the lib's/socialists spew their garbage and eviscerating them with impeccable accuracy!

I'd love to get a collection of some of those shows... it was like an oasis of reason amidst a cacophony of babble.

Heh! I'm so addicted to Rush that I have about 5 months of his show archived on tape with special recording gear. I'm going to be creating a, "Rush Archive," ping list in case someone needs a quote from a certain date and time of his show. Others are (I think) going to work on the same for Hannity, Savage, and the rest, as well as the TV news.

I have a 1963/64 Sony Tapecorder 600, reel-to-reel, that if I set it at the slow speed, 3 3/4 ips, I can get a whole show of Rush on one reel. I can also set it to record a single track instead of both stereo tracks so I can run one show on track one and another on track two. Back in 1992, I recorded the famous show where he said "tax the poor more" and I think I still have it somewhere.

Since you're from around here, I start my day at 5AM listening to Bill Bennett and drinking coffee. Then Laura as the coffee kicks in. After she's done with me, Rush comes bounding in. Then Sean. I have 3 radios at work depending upon where I am. My buddy has 4. And we share. Then Hugh Hewitt finally gets me home:)

Our manager is jealous because he can't simply work and listen:) We build radar hardware.

I have a Versacorder. It can record up to 4 hours on one side of a 110 minute cassette.

THEN, I have a Quarter Speed Tape Player that I use to listen to the whole three hour show. No commercials, either, because I'm also a member of Rush 24-7.

Without a doubt it's Rush! I also like Hedgecock. Hannity is OK, but lacks Rush's ability to get the facts straight.

You can use a VCR to record a show sans video signal. I used them for all sorts of audio recording as one can put six hours of music, talk, etc. on a cassette. I have an old Zenith unit that I record music off of CD's to and can use it to play through a good sound system or just play through a decent sounding TV. All this started more than 10 years ago when CD's and CD decks were not too cheap so I would just borrow some stuff and record it on my old but very good VCR. I have a Sangean radio with a timer and hook up the VCR, with timer, to record radio programs. Problem is, I still don't have time to listen. Once a friend used a inverter and installed a VCR in his car so he could listen to music and his favorite radio recorded programs on his long commute. I think that is a bit over the top.
