Liz Trotta said "the prospect of Dan Rather giving a Nixon Checkers speech has me salivating."
To: soozla
No she did not. According to her bio in FCC she used to be with NBC
-- Snip --Prior to joining FNC, Vester was an anchor/correspondent for NBC News as well as host of Today in America on MSNBC. While at NBC, she anchored NBC News at Sunrise from 1996-1998. From 1992-1996, Vester served as a correspondent covering major news events for the network and Weekend Today, including the crash of TWA Flight 800, the Olympic Park bombing, the Montana Freeman standoff and the Rwandan war.
Before this, she served as a reporter for NBC Newschannel and WFLA-TV (NBC) in Tampa, Florida, where she provided extensive coverage of Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf.
Vester began her career at NBC in 1990 as a researcher and producer based in New York. A graduate of Boston University (magna cum laude) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, Vester also earned an honors diploma from the Sorbonne in France and was a Fulbright Scholar of Middle East affairs based in Egypt.

Oh, now I get it, these guys are mentally ill. I know I've met some, just like them in Whatcom County. I'm not sure that their mental illness was caused by the war, though. They do migrate here because they could live relatively cheaply and with little interaction with society. Society is closing in, though.

"Is that the same Burkett?" Perhaps not. The "Bill" Burkett of Texas and forged memo faxing infamy has a first name of William, so his initials wouldn't ordinarily be thought of as "B. G.".

Funny thing is, no Dem that I know of would even know what we're talking about. War Movies are for violent old Republicans and their gun-loving children.

"And George Gruel, who claimed he was traumatized by the sight of his friend being chopped to pieces by a propeller? Navy records reveal that a propeller accident did take place on the Ticonderoga when Gruel was aboard but that he wasn't around when it happened. During Gruel's tour, the ship had been converted to an antisubmarine warfare carrier which operated, not on 'secret mission' along the Vietnam coast, but on training missions off the California coastline. Nevertheless, Burkett notes, Gruel receives $1,952 a month from the Veterans Administration for 'psychological trauma' related to an event he only heard about.
