If we (the US) do not act soon to forestall and help dry up the funding the PRC is receiving, I believe a war with the People's Republic will expand far beyond the confines of the ROC (Taiwan).

Please tell me we're not going to try to protect Taiwan's sovereignty. I foresee us going to war with China somewhere down the road, and I don't look forward to that by any means. But, I'm not sure protecting Taiwan (whom, if I'm not mistaken, we still don't officially recognize as a nation) is worth that type of hellish war.

So China is predicting a Kerry win.

The Headline should read, China Promised to Invade in 5 Years.....it is not really a prediction if you have control over it.
To: ruready4eternity
Senior Chinese leaders in the Central Military Command -- second in power only to President Jiang Zemin -- have predicted war with Taiwan within the next five years. Damn.
Just when I was planning to take Taiwan over myself.
The Chinese have to come in and ruin everything.

It would be a bad move on China's part. It would be them against the rest of the world. Plus, if they happen to read Revelations, they should know that they won't win.

China won't attack Taiwan unless provoked. This is a no win situation for everyone. The Taiwanese would be obliterated. The United States would be put in the position of fighting a defensive war if we intervened militarily. Mainland China would catch hell from most of the world while they are working hard to become part of it.
The Chinese catch a lot of hell (as they should) for their treatment of Tibet. That's a drop in the bucket of the problems resulting from an attack on Taiwan.
If I had to place a bet I think this will be a long, slow and sometimes jingoistic road toward some type of unification.

Well, China, good luck getting those troops acorss the Taiwan Straits.

Message from Iraq
The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is By taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country." Semper Fi 1stSgt Dave Jobe

Why are you posting a article that is from 2001 as if its current ???
To: ruready4eternity
This article is a couple of years old. Nothin' but a bunch of hot air. China's economy is dependant on the American consumer. If they start a war with us, they will go broke and face more civil unrest.

China becomes more like the US every day, and we become more like them. In a few years we should just declar ourselves to be a province.

Right on schedule. China seems to require some kind of intramural armed conflict every 50 years or so.
