"....Rodriguez had just been hit by a pitch and was headed up the first baseline...."

Runnin' his mouth all the way, too - bet he won't do THAT again.

Your response was weak. There is nothing Rodriguez could have said that warranted a sucker punch (with a catcher's mitt no less -how queer is that?). Bottom line, Veritek stays at the plate, this incident never happens. I am all for teamates defending their pitchers, but Rodriguez was clearly on his way to first.

Again, I hate baseball fights. My point is that the idea that Veritek is some sort of tough guy beacuse of this incident is laughable. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Why does A-Rod pick a fight with someone wearing a catchers mask - not the sharpest tool in the shed, eh?

He didn't Veritek came after him, because he is a punk. Look at the photo.

And I never claimed he was a tough guy. I just don't think A-Rod is all that tough either.

A-Rod has a tendency to run his mouth a lot, and it finally caught up with him. Both of them paid the price for this incident, too.

And no, it's not true that Varitek sid to A-Rod "We don't throw at .260 hitters", thereby setting off a-rod. That is only a rumour. Funny, but only a rumour. ;0)

Don't know about A-Rod, but George definitely is a Bush supporter as are the Wilpons and many others,

So, why would A-Rod, being the upstanding guy that you claim him to be, get in a cussing match with Varitek, then say to him "Let's Go!"?

Did he mean "Let's go out for a couple of beers and talk about this like gentlemen, and have a few laughs"? Or did he mean "Ok, that's it. Let's go. Right now, me and you. Bring it."???

Has anybody ever noticed when J. F. Kerry announced on midnight after Bush's speech at the Republican Convention that there is good news.
Good news he said, that the red Sox are now only two and a half games behind.
Kerry couldn't even get that one right, but none of the designated Kerry fans noticed.
The Sox were actually three and one half games behind.

You keep missing the point, which is that if Veritek had any balls at all he would have taken the helmet and mask off.

BTW, Rodriguez is batting .290 with 33 homers. Veritek is batting .260 away from Fenway. His average against the Yankees is .230 I guess that means the Yanks won't be throwing at him, right?

Why? Are there "rules" to fighting now? I'll tell ya what... They get in an argument, cussing each other, and then A-Rod says "Let's go!"... at that point, what? Varitek takes a few minutes to remove his helmet, padding, etc... while a-rod waits patiently? Hell no. A-Rod wanted a fight right then, and Varitek gave him one.

Too bad, so sad. Two grown children fighting. It's still stupid. However, I will never denigrate a guy who uses whatever advantage they can get in a fight. It's not cowardice - Cowardice would be running away. As I said, there are no rules in fighting - you fight to win. Period.

Well, I was just making a point - the pitcher has a bit of a control problem on occasion. I seriously doubt it was an intentional hit. If that had been Jeeter, I am almost absolutely certain that Jeeter would have just made his way to first base and not given it another thought.

A-rod was a spoiled brat when he was here in Seattle, and he certainly hasn't changed any...

The rules of fighting are that the first guy to throw a punch is the instigator.

Did you watch the game? Rodriguez was on his way to first. Veritek went after him.

"Nothing will bring me more pleasure than those remote camera shots of depressed patrons at Who's On First? on Yawke Way as the Sox make their final out."

Nothing will give me more pleasure then watching George blowing up and firing everone in sight when the Yankees don't win the WS.

I believe them both to be in the wrong... So what? Two overgrown ego-inflated children acting like it's an elementary school playground.

Both apparently wanted a fight. Saying "Let's Go" to someone during an argument can also be considered "instigating" or "Fighting Words".

Bottom line? They both got into it, and they both paid the price for it. But, you can keep claiming that A-Rod is an innocent victim all you want. It won't change the facts though.

A-Rod was on his way to first, talking trash and threatening the pitcher.

Apparently YOU didn't watch the game.

As long as the Sox lose, I really don't care who wins.

Given the history of these two teams, and especially Martinez, who is unable to beat the Yankees so he throws at them, it is understandable that Arod would be pissed. He did not charge the mound. Veritek is the instigator. He is not a tough guy.
