"Last week, Knox said she had no firsthand knowledge of Bush's time with the Texas Air National Guard, although she did recall a culture of special treatment for the sons of prominent people, such as Bush and others"

I emailed Julie Mason the writer of the article and she wrote back:
Thanks for your note. When I spoke with Mrs. Knox last week, I asked her what she knew about Bush's personnel or disciplinary history at the Texas Air National Guard. She said she did not know anything about it, all she knew was his reputation - "wild."
I have observed with interest her new wealth of knowledge, in just a few short days, regarding specific details of his service, his record and exact documents in his personnel file.
BUSH COMMANDER'S SECRETARY SAYS MEMOS ARE FAKE, CONTENT IS ACCURATE: "I did not type those memos& It's not the form I would have used. And there are words that belong to the Army, not to the Air Guard... However -- the information in those are correct," Marian Carr Knox says on "60 Minutes II"...
CRITICIZES BUSH'S ATTITUDE: "Plain and simple. Bush didn't think he had to go by the rules that others did."
Nothing new here.
Cool! This reporter sounds very suspicious. Isn't Dan Rather supposed to interview her again?
I guess my title emphesised the wrong point.
The point should be that the Secretary CHANGED her story. She only knew of his reputation then why is she on CBS being interviewed by Dan Rather?
Boring.....
Whatever. Rabid Kerry sympathisers would just say that her employer, the HOUSTON Chronicle, is "suspicious".
Gawd, and the Left always slams *us* for being the conspiracy theorists(!)
A fighter pilot with a reputation for being "wild".
Go figure.
Once again, a post here a few days ago said that this lady was a POOL SECRETARY in Bush's unit, not the commander's personal secretary.
If so, we should stop calling her "Bush Commander's Secretary," because that lends her credibility she does not deserve.
Can any freeper confirm what her position actually was, or maybe alert the people who are working on this that there is a question here?
It's quite clear that she is either confused or lying. But no one likes to attack a little old white-haired lady. It's best to disprove her statements indirectly, for instance by showing that she was not even in a position to know anything about Killian's views.
Heh........we think alike. I emailed her, too.
This is what I got back:
Mrs Knox is a very nice old lady who has said many things: that she knew nothing about Bush or his personnel records, that she knew all about Bush and his personnel records, that she had never seen his file, that she knew precisely what documents were in his file.
I find it sad, and fairly typical of the myopic feeding frenzy over 35 year-old events that we are now in the grips of.
Thanks for your note!
The psychologist will say to a four-year-old something like, "Remember when you saw that elephant in your bathtub?"
The first time, the kid will deny he remembers it, but if you repeat the question two or three times, the kid will not only remember the elephant in his bathtub, he'll remember all sorts of little details about what he and the elephant discussed and how he rode the elephant around the bathroom.
Yes- we all know that the typical fighter pilot is a mild mannered well-behaved conformist.....
Go figure.
Next they'll be telling us that Kerry served in Nam.
Go figure.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her comments on 60 minutes were classic boiler plate comments the poor would make about the rich and privileged. SHe was coached and her words were scripted. She probably got acting lessons the nigt before.
It's amazing how these Bush-basning stories are such living, growing, ever-changing things.
>> Knox knew only of Bush reputation - "wild."
LOL! I was stationed with Navy fighter pilots for three years in the early 1970's, and I befriended many. They were all cocky, and they were all wild... ALL OF THEM! My experience tells me that the U. S. military does not want a wimpy, unsure, 'John Kerry-type' to be a fighter pilot. They want cocky, self-assured, aggressive leaders, like George Bush, to become fighter pilots.

When I was a young GCI controller (ground controlled intercept) ALL the fighter pilots I came into contact with were wild. Had to be to be aggressive enough to shoot the bad guys down and get into the weeds to help the grunts. I view wild as a positive thing in hot shot jet jockeys.
Also worked in a DASC (direct air support center) which got them in the weeds.
You are absolutely right. New memories can easily be implanted in people of all ages. My mother is a prime example: I will call her from Northern Nevada, telling her about a summer thunderstorm that day in Carson Valley, NV. Several days later I'll ask her how the weather is in sunny Southern California and she'll tell me about the terrible thunder and lightning storm the day before in Ojai, CA.
