Democrats accused of ripping Bush signs - (Family attacked)
Washington Times ^ | 9/17/04 | Robert Stacy McCain

Posted on 09/16/2004 10:34:54 PM PDT by kattracks

A West Virginia man said yesterday that Democrats stole his family's Bush-Cheney campaign signs at an event featuring Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards.
"They just pounced on us," said Phil Parlock, who took his 11-year-old son, Alex, and 3-year-old daughter, Sophia, to the Democratic rally at Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va.
Sophia became briefly famous yesterday when an Associated Press photo showing her in tears after Democrats tore her sign to pieces was posted on Matt Drudge's Web site, www.drudgereport.com. "She was crying; they were pushing and shoving her," said Mr. Parlock, a Huntington real estate agent. "She was scared."
Sophia is the youngest of 10 children in a proudly patriotic family. The oldest two Parlock children, a 22-year-old daughter and a 21-year-old son, are members of the West Virginia Army National Guard, and a third Parlock — who recently turned 18 — will be sworn into the guard tomorrow, Mr. Parlock said.
The Parlocks went to Mr. Edwards' airport rally yesterday "to support the president," Mr. Parlock said, and brought nine Bush-Cheney signs with them.
"We stood there quietly while Senator Edwards went through the receiving line," he said. Then, as the North Carolina Democrat prepared to leave, Mr. Parlock said, "I took out a few Bush-Cheney signs, gave one to Alex, and Sophia and I held up one jointly."
Immediately, he said, the family was set upon by supporters of Mr. Edwards and Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry — "mostly the painters union guys" — who "started stealing my signs."

"The "media" would cut out the footage of you being attacked and make it look like you started it."

About the only good argument I can think of for English-style CCTV cameras watching a city.

Amen!

Sorry to say it, but that's what it is coming down to: The Rat activists are going to get more and more violent as they finally start to realize that the majority are tired of their socialistic class warfare tactics. We are slowly taking this country back, and they just can't stand it. Violence against their countrymen is OK - violence against Islamofacists isn't.

Considering this; kids have no business at the OPPOSITION's rally. End of story. OTOH, I would have liked to have been there with several of my large conservative friends. That union punk would have drawn back a nub when he reached for my sign!

Obviously that DUer has never been to one of the more charming leftwing protests. That one probably couldn't even find Seattle on a map.

It's bad behavior. And they might have offended other members of the union, as well. But the solution is not 'swift justice' in the middle of the night. It's for local prosecutors to go after this guy, maybe this whole group, and press charges. As I say, I mean - the guy's shown holding part of the torn banner in his hand!

Thanks. By the way, to any and all Freepers who are singing from the "dad shouldn't have brought her to a Dem rally" hymnal: What makes you think the Dem thugs wouldn't do the same thing at a GOP event?

I very well remember standing in a cold rain with my 10-year-old daughter for the Bush 2000 inauguration parade and finding myself surrounded by legions of foul-mouthed Dem scum chanting profanities about the president-elect. Until I saw this picture of Sophia, the Dems' tasteless inauguration protests were the most no-class act I'd ever seen in politics.

I played sports when I was a kid, and our coaches always told us, "Cheer all you want for your team, but never BOO the other team." Booing the other team is just low-class and poor sportsmanship -- ungentlemanly. And that's what happened at the 2000 inauguration: the Dems showed up to boo.

As Sophia's dad explained it, he wasn't booing, wasn't causing trouble -- just holding up his sign to show his support. Poor judgment? Maybe. But what the Dem goons did was just tacky and cruel beyond all description.

This is the first time I've heard of this. I don't think I'd take my own 3 yr old into such an unfriendly fray knowing past behavior of free speech hating leftist democrats of all stripes, but how pathetic are those fascists that they rip the sign up and manhandle a 3 yr old child. What a disgusting lot. Their complete lack of self-control, even around small children, is why I would never trust these people in power--who believes they could control themselves from taking pitchforks and torches to conservatives/christian's houses somedays? Mentality of uncivilized barbarians. I hope this gets lots of coverage, but beware if the MSM gets this, I will guarantee you they badger the father for bringing his child there to begin with(they'll conveniently forget the abortion crew who make their 3 yr olds where signs supporting their mother's right to abort them)

Maybe they are right. It is a good thing..FOR US. How many fence-sitters are going to warm up to John Kerry when they see how his followers behave? Absolutely no hope these kids will ever be dems now either. No doubt this will stick out in their mind for years and years to come.

DUers--YOU ARE PATHETIC! Advocating the manhandling of a 3 yr old child. What a bunch of losers! Talk about fascists! How many conservatives at that pro-death march jumped the children of the baby killing advocates? Can't remember one incident. Anyone we are seeing the difference of the civilized vs. the freedom hating barbarian.

No Kerry/Edwards supporter would grab a Bush/Cheney sign and tear it up - that's like John Kerry cutting in line at an ice cream shop and turning around saying

"Haw haw I'm a senator you peon!"

Obviously they have never heard "Queen Thereza" talk.

Well, I hate to break up the party mood, but what the heck was this guy thinking bringing his beloved, sweet, innocent child into a crowd of animals, in this case, Democrats?

For me, I don't put anything beyond the rats. I certainly would not trust the safety of my children to their "tender mercies".

That still doesn't mean that these animals should be beaten until they all hide under rocks. The guy who assaulted them should be thrown in jail.

You could not buy this type of publicity for any price.

"Low-browed union thugs assault little girl."

So much for "look for the union label."

regards.

Wait a minute aren't we told, by the libretards, that protesting is the most Patriotic thing you can do? Seems the painters union moore-ons are unpatriotic. Besides looks like the little girl kicked their collective asses, as the union pansies couldn't get the whole sign away from her.

This story also clears up the image of the little boy off to the side with clinched fist.

Yesterday, when we didn't have all the facts, it appeared to many Freepers he might be part of the abusive crowd harrassing the dad, girl.

Today, we realize he's the son/brother of the dad/little girl.

Certainly changes the perspective!!
