Cadinal Pell for Pope!!!

I wish.

He is the only person who handled the sodomy crisis correctly.

He booted the priests involved and then, when he continued to condemn sodomy in general, he was falsely accused of sexual abuse.

When this happened, he stood down from his see and ordered an independent police investigation of the charges against him.

After the police soon determined that the allegations were complete hogwash, he returned to his see and continued hammering the faggots from the pulpit.

He's gold.

I wish that the American Catholic bishops would petition the Pope to censure (excommunicate) John Kerry. The main reason would be his abortion stand.

Cardinal George Pell, who has refused to give communion to gays and once called homosexuality "a greater health hazard than smoking.

A study in Ontario indicates that a sexually active homosexual male will lose between 8 years and 20 years of his life expectancy. The CDC says the average smoker loses 12 or 13 years of his or her life expectancy; heavy smokers (2 packs/day) lose 20 years.

Cardinal George Pell

Dr George Pell is President of the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in Melbourne, Australia. Working in conjunction with the John Paul II Pontifical Institute for Studies of Marriage and the Family around the world and with the University of Notre Dame in Perth, the Melbourne Institute will provide theological and pastoral training for priests and religious, teachers, catechists, pastoral workers, nurses and physicians, and lay people interested in deepening their understanding of the issues touching marriage, family and the culture of life in our world today.

Unfortunately, a lesbian former nun who is a second cousin of Cardinal George Pell has publicly challenged him over the Catholic Church's hardline stance against homosexuality.

"In the letter Ms Hingston challenged Dr Pell to look her in the eye and call her "corrupt, debased, vicious, vile, wicked, degenerate" - words she says are synonyms for depraved.

"To read that the Vatican has declared us to be 'seriously depraved persons' has appalled and angered me," she wrote."

No doubt, Cardinal Pell has his own personal cross to carry.

Catholic Ping - let me know if you want on/off this list

I'm glad someone is taking a stand. This isn't just some antiquated patriarchy's rulings, God Himself declared that is was a sin.

I'm not a Catholic but to see the Church falling apart saddens me. They could be doing so much good.

Indeed!

My friend Adam wants me to go to a Byzantine parish with him. He tells me we have to call ahead to tell them we're coming because the Byzantine Patriarchates are extremely strict about denying Communion to the ineligible. I remarked, "Imagine if some of these politicians claimed to be Eastern-Rite Catholics!"

He says that if they did, it wouldn't even be an issue. None of them would have a prayer of receiving Communion and they'd likely all be excommunicated in a heartbeat.

I'm glad someone is taking a stand to preserve the Church. I'm so sick and tired of all this "progressive" junk seeping into the various churches around here.

The church I was married at is a Slovak Catholic Church and it is very. very traditional (kneeling for communion, no communion in the hand, no eucharistic ministers, and only organ music). It is packed to the rafters every Sunday. It's for serious Catholics who still have respect for church, and it's not uncommon for a sermon every once in a while to admonish the congregation when things start getting lax (wearing jeans and other innappropriate attire, behavior during mass, and the inability of some parents to control their children).

I dread the day one of the American "progressive" Cardinals ever makes it to Pope.
