I don't know how much I like the new championship format. Playoffs are great for football & Baseball, but can anyone think of any track that determines their champion of a playoff basis? Racing, to me, is about performing consistently throughout the entire season.

Boiling the cup down to a 10 race limited-entry playoff doesn't seem right, but I imagine it will make for some damn fun racing the next month and a half.

Gotta love the Pres... going right into the heart of Kerry Kountry in NH, although he'll be among "friendlies" with the NASCAR crowd.

First we've got the 'Chase'. Not sure I like that. On top of that, it's an election year and every race is turned into a photo-op moment. It's getting to where I have to remind myself every week exactly why I'm still watching NASCAR on a regular basis.

COOL!!! I love it when our Dubya shows up at a NASCAR race. Rummy got a huge welcome. I can just imagine what kind of a welcome the President will receive now that we're in the middle of election crunch time.

Would that make the race a "Bush series" event?

Updated my FRL this morning. They called the players pretty close in the "A" team. I think 8 out of the top 10?

I will be away from the TV this weekend as we have tickets on the Shasta Sunset Dinner Train out of McCloud in Northern California Saturday evening.

So, what old media outlet will carry the race??? Need to know before hand, not be searching 120 channels?

Sunday's race is TNT.

Saturday's Busch race is Speed channel.

No NBC this weekend.

TV and event schedule info is at the top of the thread.

Can we line up the DNC Talking Heads across the track and call the first lap the "NAVIGATE and SCORE on the LIBERAL CRASH COURSE"....!

I'm assigning a full 10 pt hit for DASHOLE! Post your assigned scores for the rest of em! After the first lap each driver will add up his bonus points and recieve a reduction in seconds off his final race time!

I don't like the idea of the "Chase for the Championship", even though my man (Mark Martin) can come from 8th place and win the thing. It would be a tainted title in my book. I think this year's title race would have been exciting without this 10 race playoff baloney.

Mark Martin is the best NASCAR driver to never win the Cup. He will probably only drive for a few more years so I hope he wins it this year.

DW pointed out the real losers are the teams that would have a chance at a top ten spot in the next 10 races but will not earn a table at the Waldorf awards dinner at the end of the season...
