Did George W. Bush ever do coke? And what about wine and women?

Now that Kitty Kelley has spotlighted the lurid charge of cocaine use at Camp David in her latest scandal book, "The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty," The National Enquirer is weighing in with its own investigation headlined "More Proof Bush Used Cocaine."

The issue hitting the streets today quotes Bush detractor Toby Rogers concerning an April 1998 Houston lunch he allegedly had with Bush family friend Michael C. Dannenhauer, a meal described in detail in Rogers' book, "Ambushed: Secrets of the Bush Family, the Stolen Presidency, 9-11 and 2004."

Rogers tells the tabloid: "During my lunch with Dannenhauer, I told him I heard that George W. [then Texas governor] was a real party animal. He just rolled his eyes and told me, 'Between you and me, he's been out of control since college.'

"Dannenhauer also confided, 'There was cocaine use, lots of women, but the drinking was the worst.' According to Dannenhauer, Bush's use of cocaine started sometime before 1977, and his father told Dannenhauer that Junior even experienced some 'lost weekends in Mexico.'

"Dannenhauer was implying that the President's son had experienced his fair share of excessive drugging, boozing and womanizing south of the border."

Yesterday Enquirer editor in chief David Perel told me: "These stories are nothing to snort at."

But deputy White House press secretary Trent Duffy insisted: "It appears to be the same trash that's been discredited, disavowed or dismissed years ago."

I think *most* folks reaction is pretty much "Okay. Whatever." The guy turned his life around. Give him credit. As Ali G would say "Big up youself, W."

Did Bill Clinton ever do coke?

I just dont seem to recall anyone of these media liberals asking him the same question...

Despite his own brother stating that bill had "a nose like a vacuum cleaner"

I suspect GW lived a wild life. But I thought that didn't matter in a post-Clinton world.

If GWB was not an incumbant (sp?) I could see where this may have some relevance...speaking to the character and behavior of the man. But what the media seems to forget is that GWB has been in office for 4 years and we know how he is going to react, we know his leadership abilities -- he is no longer an unknown commodity.

The same cannot be said of Kerry and it should be. unfortunately, the media and the DNC, will never let that happen.

My cousin met Bush when they were both in college and he said that Bush was just another guy around them and put on no airs.

President Bush's record speaks for itself. He is real and he is a leader.

Hello,

I believe that there was an orchestrated effort to arrive at this point, on the part of CBS, Kitty Kelley and the "Fortunate Son" folks. I (and alot of others!) saw this pattern emerging over the weekend.

The set up: "Docs" show W refused order for physical. Questions is: WHY? Ketty Kelley get 3 whole days on Today Show to spread the drug use lie. At the same time, the "Fortunate Son" video is getting big play. Now, the script calls for other media venues to begin asking the same questions.

Had this been handled differently, it could have impacted W. Just remember the DUI story in 2000. We know that reduced in some measure W's total. Some interesting things to me are the pathetic Docs, so obviously fake, and why this tacky little play ran in Sept., not October.

I wonder who devised this plan, who wrote the script, and who choose the players. Perhaps, we will find out....

Glad to be here, MOgirl

Everyone takes a little time to grow up. George took his time while also picking up an MBA, lovely wife, the Texas governor's job and two full terms in the presidency.

What a crock!!! I know Michael Dannenhauer and there is NO WAY he would ever say anything like this to anyone. He is not a "Bush family friend," he was the chief of staff for George H.W. Bush after he left the White House. I met Michael while working for a trade association which had former President Bush speak at its annual convention, and stayed in touch with him afterward. He is as straight an arrow as they come, and his relationship with the Bush family is strictly professional. If he knew any family secrets, which I doubt, he would never divulge them in a gossipy lunch as described by this writer.

It is just shocking to me how desperate the Left is to prove that George W. Bush used cocaine.
