Oopsie! This is what happens when you accept the tall tales of a disgruntled nut-job as "fact".
By RALPH BLUMENTHAL
For a second I thought SID Blumenthal was outing Burkett. The story is now "avalanching". Can't wait to see how the DNC and/or Kerry fit in to this.
It's no coincidence that Burkett had Van Os on retainer and briefed *prior* to reporters camping out in front of his home...
The AWB Has Expired - Gun Owners Have Won Again For All Americans!
The same people who believe that unsigned CYA notes admitting to a coverup are labeled CYA and addressed to files.
Check this out:
"..Burkett has employed attorney David Van Os to speak on his behalf as the scandal unfolds. Messrs. Burkett and Van Os are both Democratic Operatives with a long history of activism in the Democratic Party of Texas. Van Os is even a past and current Democratic Nominee for the Texas Supreme Court."
How's that for supposedly "unimpeachable sources"? If this is true, and if we can find out if Van Os in on the payroll of the Texas Democratic Party, or better yet, the Kerry campaign, Game Over.
I guess this is the argument the MSM will use to make their last stand. While the memos may be fake, they are a recreation of lost originals. How pathetic is that? But what other choice do they have?
I can almost guarantee there will be no prosecution. How often have we conservatives stood by and watched as our party played "Mr. Nice Guy."
They'll discredit him and leave it at that, I bet.
Hmmm, Paul Begala is from Texas. That would be a much more juicy outcome than Burkett.
This is huge. This could cause a landslide.
Are you daring to question the venerable Mr. Rather's news judgement. I'm shocked. /sarcasm
Now I'm just waiting for CBS to muddle their way out of this one. At least I've got some new content for my latest round of emails to CBS, Viacom, CBS local affiliates, CBS advertisers... I'm getting quite a mailing list together. Guess I should add Congress, too, to encourage that investigation.
You mean "hugh", of course.
Don't worry, it's not a series mistake.
I agree with you. CBS defended the documents and the source vehemently. If it was Burkett, they would have easily gave him up. Ben Barnes has close ties with Dan Rather and Kerry. This close relationship with CBS and Kerry can be the only logical reason CBS has foolishly defended the forged documents.
We are definitely reaching escape velocity now :-}
""They're protecting Ben Barnes, Kerry's chief fundraiser in Texas"".
Could it actually be Kerry they are protecting? Ben Barnes is to close to Kerry himself for this to get out in the MSM.
Everybody here who thinks that Dan Barlett and Karen Hughes would have "sanitized" Bush's file and then thrown the files in the trash can and walked away, raise your hand.
Anybody? Somebody?
You could be correct. It could be barnes who they are protecting. It could be barnes who dreamed this up with mapes.
They're looking for vindication after their own problems last year with that reporter who was making up his stories. They want someone else to hurt, especially since the Times at least admitted their mistake and put it right. Too bad CBS decided to go another route...
