A goldbrick is one who goes to great lengths to get out of doing one's required job. The term was used quite extensively by Major Frank Burns to Corporal Klinger in M*A*S*H, and Major Burns called Radar O'Reilly a goldbrick by faking an illness to get Colonel Blake back in command.
