Oh, yes. I like that chronology. I thought all the others (the book, the Rather, the ad, the DEMands) had to be orchestrated--but never put the debates into the picture. You're right--it's too many coincidences. And what does Sherlock say about coincidences?

i can just see w's response..

"you mean questions raised by those forged documents?"

:D

well, the rumor is that CBS has a second hit story floating around in the backroom to be aired in october as its "october suprise" which pins bush as an outright coke head (that is why he did not take the physical).

THAT is probably why they are clinging to it. not to mention, they do not want it to back fire. it looks like everything is okay so far, i have not seen any huge bumps in the polls for bush lately (he is holding steady, though).

F-E-L-O-N-Y. CBS was part of a conspiricy to forge Federal documents to try and influence a presidential election. Now they're on a roller coaster at Six Flags. Can't get off.

[They] WANT this story to be true.

Thats a major part of it. They have gone beyond reason. It's personal. Thats why the FCC and Congress need to get involved with this.

Williams and Alan Colmes WANT this story to be true.

I watched them both make fools of themselves tonight. Williams was trying really hard to spin this story being about Bush not showing up for his physical. Brit Hume would have none of it.

You could almost say Brit B!tch Slapped him. Poor Juan was so disappointed he couldn't keep spinning.

It is more understandable now that Burkett has been ID'd as the supplier of the memos. No way does Dan Rather want him to be interviewed by anyone...that's why he is adamant about "protecting his source." But he will be national soon -- what a blast!

The President's people need to "just say no" to CBS moderators in the debates. Let Brit Hume do it.

I can't wait for their revelation either; and I can't imagine that O'Neil has blown his whole wad.

And, Carl Bernstein, on Hannity and Colmes, tonight. I'm sitting there wondering why this guy is supposed to be so brilliant. They had might as well been interviewing Terry McAuliffe. Alan Colmes just sits there giving it the old DNC spin. Everything out of his mouth is basically telling the audience to shut up and believe what he, and the left, tells them to believe.

If this Bob Schieffer guy is a moderator, I think Bush should just back out of any debate he's involved in and say that CBS has shown an incredible lack of impartiality, and until the questions about their airing of false docs are cleared up.... Bush will not be debating in any forum where CBS operatives are acting as moderators.

In the not too distant past the press could lie with impunity. There was no one to keep them honest. They had an oligarchy. Those days are over, and the dinosaurs in the business like Dan Rather had best conform to the new reality of blogs, forums, and the new media or they will perish.

To his credit, Dim Pat Caddell was asking Alan Colmes why he was drinking the Kool-Aid. Then, he launched into NBC, for having Bitty Kelley on the Today show THREE times, this week.

Naw - I think CBS is taking the electro-shock to cauterize the hemmoraging the Swift Boat Vets have caused Kerry.

Assuming there are intelligent adults at CBS, they have fallen on a grenade to protect Kerry.

Re Bernstein: How hard is it to break a story when you've got Deep Throat providing facts, names, places, paper, pen, typewriters, and ribbons (or Selectric balls)?

Rather has to see this through to the destruction of Geo. Bush. If he admits the docs are forged, he has to say where they came from (the Kerry campaign). If he admits he put out forged docs given to him by Begala and Carvile the game is over, their boy goes down in flames, his rep. is shot and his career ends in ignominy. Hence, he will NEVER admit he made a mistake. It is ironic that he made his rep. bringing a president down who was stonewalling (Nixon) and now he IS Nixon. LOL. Payback is just such a...

I think you are right in that CBS did not expect the whole thing to blow up in their face. People at CBS and their confederates (Harkin, McCauliffe etc.???) had not banked on the "Freepers" getting all over them.

Now that they have been busted Dan must pretend the memos are authentic or he would have to reveal his sources and the conspiracy. I also think good ole fashion hubris is getting the best of Dandy Dan. He thinks he can just tough it out. I think he is wrong.

....or how about when Bush had that press conference last spring and the press repeatedly tried to embarass Bush with stupid questions and get him to "apologize" for Iraq?

Do you know who it was who asked Bush to aplogize to the country?

Answer: It was Dan Rather's "hair apparent" to the anchor's chair, John Roberts of CBS.

I agree with your suspicion that "more is afoot". It seems clear from the preponderance of evidence that CBS is a full-fledged covert partner of the DNC. Getting less "covert" all the time.
