W. House is blocking Dem donor
The Hill ^ | 9/16/04 | Bob Cusack

Posted on 09/15/2004 7:17:45 PM PDT by Cableguy

The White House has refused to promote a key official at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) who has worked on healthcare problems confronting Iraq and Afghanistan because he contributed to the Democratic Party four years ago, The Hill has learned.

He is Howard Zucker, a pediatric cardiologist and anesthesiologist who is deputy assistant secretary for health, science technology and medicine. He earned his medical degree at age 22 and has law degrees from Fordham University and Columbia University. He has also worked with NASA astronauts at MIT designing experiments for the space shuttle.

Bush administration officials say Zucker’s ascent at HHS has been halted because he donated $2,000 to the Democratic National Committee in October, 2000.

Note to Myself:

The boss refused to submit to my tantrum demanding a promotion and a fat pay increase despite my tantrum in his office. I held my breath for a very long time, but he still refused. Make note to contact journalist Bob Cusack so that he can make national news of this outrage. I'm a columbia graduate damnit.

This is a problem because...? Maybe this person should have thought of this possibility prior to making donations to the Democrats, and serving in a Republican Administration.

Howard Zucker is undoubtably a smart guy. He is an accomplished physcian and researcher. He is also a lawyer.

The White House has had bad experences with Democrat partisan operatives in high government positions. They have been naive and have given the benefit of the doubt to Democratic appointees in the past (in an attempt to foster bi-partisanship), later only to be betrayed by the likes of Clarke, Wilson, et al with book deals, misleading testimonials at congressional hearings, TV circuit hackjobs, etc.

Note to self.............

Boss must promote me because I deem myself worthy, all other reasons, (and my loyalties), be damned.

All employees serving at the pleasure of the President can be hired and fired without cause. (ask Pres. Andrew Johnson re: his impeachment).

Remember that Clinton fired every single high level prosecutor in the country in order to give himself some breathing room. His own appointees would look the other way. (And Clinton knowing his own misdeeds better than anyone).

Awwww, golly gee....maybe this poor shumuck will actually have to go back to SEEING PATIENTS.

There are so many docs out there wanting to break into politics just so they can give up clinic work. That's probably why he donated Dem in the first place.

Hey. Cry me a river, and enjoy having John Edwards carry your flag.

Federal employees are not allowed to contribute either time or money to either party. They can be fired for doing so. This guy got off easy.
