I firmly believe that the UN is well beyond the point of ever being an effective international body. If the US were to quit the UN, I think a number of other nations would soon follow. We can then start an effective organization to pursue the goals that the UN was designed to pursue but never did.

I agree. The US could fill the role of the UN, though not as publicly.

Agreed.... This only goes to prove that the UN is an elitist social club for arrogant diplomats that want to enjoy the American lifestyle with out being a Citizen!

While I whole-heartedly support an immediate withdrawl from the UN, I do not believe that other countries would follow suite. If anything, they would simply use our absence to mount attacks against us.

The UN should have one purpose and thats to provide a meeting space for countries to hash out disagreements and make sure there is enough refreshments for the lunch time break.

The problem with old koffee is that he is through and through a communist. Been there and done that. It it a huge suprise that he would go to the side of the Communist Chinese. Remember them the fellows who handle protesters by running them over by the thousands with tanks and automatic weapons.
