thank you for posting this

They must think the affiliates are idiots, too.
But you-know-what flows downhill, and the affiliates will feel the effect of people tuning out long before the net will. Or before the net will care.
Advice for the affiliates: Grow a pair.

But CBS News background reporting determined that Staudt remained a powerful figure in the Guard for years after his retirement, ...
Wishful thinking by CBS but that is clearly bunk!

However, she confirms that the content of the memos does reflect the feelings of Lt. Col. Killian at the time and accurately portrays events that were taking place in connection with then-Lt. Bushs Texas Air National Guard service.Regarding which, see this: Real Killian Memo Praises Bush.

Thanks for the info. I thought the people at CBS were grownups, but that doesn't look to be the case.
They have no idea how serious this is. They're going to find out.

Even their own liberal witness says the memos are NOT genuine! Sheesh, when you come right down to it, Marian Carr Knox doesn't add much in support of what Dan Rather and Mary Mapes are looking for other than her opinion about Bush. Is this the hat great journalists hang their careers on? Tonight's show brings to mind the old saw to the effect you can't make something out of nothing. They're just too deep in it now to back out and admit there's ZIP, ZERO, ZILCH NADA to their story.

For the proposed third debate:
Third presidential debate:
Arizona State University
Tempe, AZ
Wednesday, October 13
Bob Schieffer
CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent, and Moderator, Face the Nation
from:
http://www.debates.org/pages/news_040813.html
but if President Bush holds to only 2 debates (as he should), the SeeBS guy gets "cut out of the pattern" and then Bob can blame Dan for screwing things up. Maybe THAT will get Dopey Dan fired!

"...whose personal memos were part of a report on last Wednesdays (8) 60 MINUTES broadcast..."
To: John Jorsett
The editorial content of the report was not based solely on the physical documents, but also on numerous credible sources who supported what the documents said.Unsaid: The other sources are no more credible than the documents.

Once again, CBS is trying to escape the kill zone and move it broader ground. But they have admitted only have photocopies, which cannot be authenticated and are only claiming the documents
could have been typed -- but the claim is categorical and categorically false.
Moreover, they are still using the contents of the photocopies to build their claim, such as the supposed interference of Col Staudt. So the focus of the attack on CBS must remain their photocopies of unknown provenance.

..CBS News states that it will redouble its efforts to continue reporting aggressively on all aspects of the story,.. They didn't have ONE person on to talk about the fraud aspect, or the source, or whether they had the orginal documents, or why the originals were not available, or....
What a bunch of Dan Rather

To: John Jorsett
Oh Sheesh! Pretty thin proof - because the producer has hated Bush for 5 years - I mean been on the story for 5 years - 1/2 their examiners are gone and what they have left didn't see any originals! Again, sheesh!

So, let me get this straight.
We're supposed to believe this lady over and above Killian's wife and son?
Killian's son has said that Knox was just in a secretarial pool, not Killian's secretary.
This is just unbelievable!

CBS News will make every effort to resolve the contradictions and answer the unanswered questions about the documents and will continue to report on all aspects of the story.
