CBS finds somebody to back them up!
The bottom line is that the 86 year old lady confirmed that they were not typed by her and were not authentic. To go on to say that the information is correct (based on her instincts) just boggles my mind.
You know who started the ACLU?
Norman Thomas, who also started the US Socialist Party, and who ran for President on the Socialist ticket.
And as an aside, his grandson is Evan Thomas of Newsweek.
He always comes trotting out to tell us NOTHING is as important as Watergate!
It's National Enquirer Journalism....long as you find soneone who said it, you are ok. She said, he said, and therefore, it's real. Murrow must be turning in his grave.
Is this the same Marian Knox? The first link shows a campaign contribution of $5.00 (wow), the second is a description of the state legislator to whom the the donation was made. It turns out she is a Republican. Verification anyone?

Gawd, I'd LOVE to be called a "girl" again. :-)
Slightly off topic, but, do you remember the Dan Rather Chicago taxicab incident ?
I do and the image of Rather trapped in the back of speeding taxi, yelling at people on the sidewalks, is hilarious.
"In 1980, there was the cab ride in Chicago during which Dan Rather, in town to do a '60 Minutes' interview,
thought the driver either didn't know where he was going or was taking a longer route to increase the fare.
When the anchor asked the cabbie to stop, he sped up instead and Rather ended up with his head out the window yelling for help."
(When the incident was picked up by the national press, Rather attempted to explain himself:
"Anybody who tells me that they haven't had something like that happen to them, tells me they haven't ridden very many cabs in very many cities.")
If the forged documents are based on real documents that exist somewhere, why didn't the forger, who presumably had access to them, simply make copies of the originals?? The contortions CBS is going through to stick to their story..
Well, now we see it. 60Minutes, with Dan Rather, and CBS have just put their defenses up.
The evil GOP is now attacking a sweet old silver-haired grandma, who believes along with the majority of The Sheep, that GWB is "illegitimate" and "Unqualified".
Nastydamn GOP'ers, we all want seniors eating dog food and voting Republican. </ sarcasm>
But, the damage is done. "Not the facts of the case, but the seriousness of the charge." And The Sheep have heard, and The Sheep will believe.
What I don't understand is that liberals hate authority, yet they are so critical of President Bush over something they think is his disregard for authority. They are so confused.
I didn't see the interview, didn't she say that it was due on his birthday? Bush's birthday is mid July. He wouldn't have even been notified of it until June, yet the memos are dated mid-May.
She confirms she didn't type the memos.
Confirms they are frauds.
Confirms she is a Michael Moore convert.
Killian's son confirms she wasn't his private secretary.
Rather confirms it is his goal to destroy our President with Forgeries.
This the best they got? LOL!
I agree with everything you said, but this is probably most important. John Kerry cannot become President and each of us must take a role in making sure it doesn't happen.
I loved this one:
What's the story behind R.E.M.'s song "What's the Frequency, Kenneth"?
Dana
Nashua, New Hampshire
Dear Dana:
CBS News anchor Dan Rather, renowned for his unusual expressions and sayings, has led a colorful life. However, one bizarre event really takes the cake.
One night in October 1986, Rather was walking down a Manhattan street when he was punched from behind and thrown to the ground. His assailant kicked and beat him while repeating, "Kenneth, what is the frequency?"
No one could explain the event, and the rumors flew fast and wide. Some speculated the assailant was a KGB agent, while others claimed the attack was the work of a jealous husband. Rather himself couldn't shed any light on the subject. His explanation at the time?
I got mugged. Who understands these things? I didn't and I don't now. I didn't make a lot of it at the time and I don't now. I wish I knew who did it and why, but I have no idea.
Apparently the strange event moved R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe, who said of the incident:
It remains the premier unsolved American surrealist act of the 20th century. It's a misunderstanding that was scarily random, media hyped and just plain bizarre.
The attack inspired the 1994 R.E.M. hit "What's the Frequency, Kenneth." Being a good sport, Dan Rather even accompanied the band when they performed the song on a Late Show with David Letterman appearance.
In 1997, based on a tip from a psychiatrist, Rather's attacker was identified as William Tager. According to the psychiatrist, Tager, who was currently serving time for killing an NBC stagehand, blamed news media for beaming signals into his head, and thought if he could just find out the correct frequency, he could block those signals that were constantly assailing him. Hence the enigmatic inquiry.
And Gary Killian said that for example, those memos directing someone to take a physical would not have come from Operations as this memo does, but from the Clinic.
I wonder why this particular memo didn't come from the Clinic as was the normal pattern...
I think Gary Killian knows just a bit more than she thinks he does.
Yes, she did!!! You are correct!
July 6.
I will be watching. It comes on in 20 min.
Right. The "sheep" will believe.
The same way they believed Kerry over the Swiftees. Except the crashing poll numbers say otherwise.
This is not '98, the media landscape has changed. We win some battles, we lose some. It is no longer definitive we will lose 90% of the time.
