CBS finds somebody to back them up!
The people have spoken, my friend. The worm has turned.
That's OK, CBS and the DNC can simply forge a new, revised birth certificate.
The rumors must be true.
These DUmmies are on serious drugs ...
No one also mentions the fact that Rather probably spent the afternoon EDITING her interview and then rerecording questions to fit with her answers. This will just bury CBS.
Is this the same Marian Knox? The first link shows a campaign contribution of $5.00 (wow), the second is a description of the state legislator to whom the the donation was made. It turns out she is a Republican. Verification anyone?

We would have heard from her if the Dims didn't believe the DUI story was enough to stop Bush in 2000.

Don't want to lose this

Or this...way down near the bottom about the little old lady and her changing stories.
Not sure if someone else mentioned this, but she said Bush always called her the wrong name cause he couldn't remember her name. I have heard and read in many places that one talent W has is he can remember everyone's name that he meets. What gives?
Wouldn't any official written orders be generated from the headquarters of the TXANG, not from a local base like the one where Bush was associated with?
60 Minutes has not come on here yet. From all the comments I have been reading the answer is clear why it took CBS all day to make a statement. CBS must have been working all day making this video. It must have taken a long time to coach this woman and then edit the tape.
" She says that other pilots were resentful of Bush "
Do 22 yr old TexANG pilots regularly confide in 54 year old ( at the time ) secretaries ?
How come Rather didn't ask her to name other pilots from 35 years ago, to demonstrate her mental acuity ?
Tonight was hilarious and pathetic at the same time.
Granny Knox reminds me of that ditzy senior Al Gore paraded around claiming she was forced to walk the roadsides and collect cans to pay for her meds.
"It seems to me..."
What is this woman's name? I can't find anything on her, even the current news stories!!
I agree, but not figuratively.
People used to do that, you know.
We need to avoid making personal attacks on her. Rather, we need to point out her political bias, as demonstrated by her comments that Bush was "selected, not elected" and here statements that Bush is not qualified to be President.
We need to go over her previous statements, and the statements from this interview in precise detail and impeach her as a witness (hint to all you other trial lawyers out there...we do this for a living so GET CRACKING).
Look for contradictions.
Look for statements about "facts" that she could not know first hand.
Look for embellishments of the facts...she is making things seem more important.
Look into her background; has she ever worked or volunteered on a political campaign.
The bottom line is that this is an elderly woman with strong views who wants to bring our President down.
Keep this in mind, if CBS had run an interview with her along with its interview with Barnes last week, without use of the forged memos, this would not have been much of a story. Ok, two Dem hacks go after Bush and distort the facts to make Bush look bad. There are other people who served with Bush with a different impression.
CBS wants to press the issue that Bush violated a direct order to take a physical...but we have already read good arguments that such an order would not have been given under the circumstances that appeared to exist in 1972 (the deadline was not for another 2 months).
In the end, there was not much of a story without the memos. There IS not much of a story, other than CBS' failure to check its sources. They were careless and put bad information to the public...why should we trust them anymore this week.
Hopefully, WE will be the ones who go after Knox; and the White House will be polite and merely state that her memories are incorrect. We don't want our President acting like the crybaby that Kerry has shown himself to be.
Yeah, I saw it. It's outstanding.
Can you believe that Jane Fonda is on CNN basically saying "Vote for the Traitor."
"please remember we are not as stupid as you looked tonight!"
The assumption, for a long time, has been that the "people" are stupid, and the most stupid of them all are Republicans (when we're not being just plain evil), so it's correct to feed them the information, true or not, that we want, because they must be led into the right path. Watching their boney hands pried away from this deeply held belief will be painful, if gratifying.
She's just a VERY partisan democrat and a tad bit senile. Knox is what we call a "4D" voter in the Houston political scene. That means she's voted in four or more Democratic Party primaries in the last decade - a true die hard. I ran her voter reg file a few minutes ago and confirmed it - she's a 4D to be sure.
