John Kerry Campaign Hires Fired Worker
POSTED: 9:06 am EDT September 15, 2004
DETROIT -- Democrat John Kerry has a new campaign worker helping him drum up support in Alabama after hiring a woman who was fired for displaying the presidential candidate's bumper sticker on her car.
Kerry called Lynne Gobbell on Tuesday after reading a newspaper story describing how she had been fired last Thursday from her job packing cellulose insulation at a Moulton, Ala., plant.
Gobbell said her former employer had told her she could either work for him or Kerry. She said Kerry told her, "Let him know that as of today, you're working for John Kerry." "He was proud of me for standing up for what I believe in," the newly employed, 41-year-old said of her quick phone call with the candidate.
Gobbell said Kerry didn't offer too many details about her new position. She will be helping the campaign and may be traveling a little as it gets closer to the election.
She could receive help from another corner, as well. A liberal Web site, AMERICAblog.org, began raising money for Gobbell on Monday night after learning of her dismissal. John Aravosis, who runs the site, said he collected $1,800 over a 24-hour period.
Something about this story is fishy...the employer is basically stuck because he probably cannot talk about her work record legally. I think that's confidential info. Who's to say, she may have gotten in trouble for the sticker and fired for something totally different. The employer can't really speak about it, can he?
She's the newest poster child for the democratic party and that is fine with me.
She serves at the employer's pleasure. He can fire her for any damned reason he wishes. When you attain that status of employer, make a valid comment. Until then, STFU, jerk.
You have it backwards...the woman doesn't own the bosses property so she has no right to display political advertising on his property without his permission.
So, she's going to pack cellulose insulation for Kerry? What high-end skills does that require? It's hard not to laugh.
I tell you, the guy is all heart!
Her supervisor has spoken up in other stories. All she had to do was remove a poltical advertisement from the owners property. She elected not to then becomes the latest media darling for the evils of the right.
Again, she ain't and never was his property, niether was her car. The woman was part of the company team until she failed to turn over her 1st amend rights to "the employer" the bankruptcy lawyer.
"She'll soon be unemployed again."
And so will John Edwards.
Socialism at it's finest !!!!
I don't buy it! This feel good damsel in distress story with Kerry as our hero must be a staged setup! I don't believe for a second that this women was fired for having a "Kerry" bumper sticker on her car! She was probably fired for legitimate reasons and concocted up this pathetic story for her 15 minutes of fame. Someone needs to investigate and find out exactly why she was fired!! It just smells really fishy!
Duh. Let's try to make this simply. She parked an auto on the owners property, which he does own, from which she was displaying a political advertisement, ON HIS PROPERTY, that he did not like being display ON HIS PROPERTY.
In my part of the world it's called property rights.
Why on Earth would anyone (other than a yellow dog Democrat) even believe that it might be true?
Seems she was a "packer". She'll fit right in with the pack of lies that the sKerry campaign gives out. Maybe she could become their spokesperson.
Has anybody inquired with the employer to confirm that she was fired for being a Kerry supporter? I find it hard to believe that somebody would be foolish enough to fire an employee for this. They'd be inviting a lawsuit. If this is the case, then on November 3rd, John Ewards will be available to represent her.
He already is!!! LOL
Should we say the "Party of Losers"? </sarcasm off
