John Kerry Campaign Hires Fired Worker
POSTED: 9:06 am EDT September 15, 2004
DETROIT -- Democrat John Kerry has a new campaign worker helping him drum up support in Alabama after hiring a woman who was fired for displaying the presidential candidate's bumper sticker on her car.
Kerry called Lynne Gobbell on Tuesday after reading a newspaper story describing how she had been fired last Thursday from her job packing cellulose insulation at a Moulton, Ala., plant.
Gobbell said her former employer had told her she could either work for him or Kerry. She said Kerry told her, "Let him know that as of today, you're working for John Kerry." "He was proud of me for standing up for what I believe in," the newly employed, 41-year-old said of her quick phone call with the candidate.
Gobbell said Kerry didn't offer too many details about her new position. She will be helping the campaign and may be traveling a little as it gets closer to the election.
She could receive help from another corner, as well. A liberal Web site, AMERICAblog.org, began raising money for Gobbell on Monday night after learning of her dismissal. John Aravosis, who runs the site, said he collected $1,800 over a 24-hour period.
You know what? You're just as much a jerk as the A-hole employer who fired this woman because she had a Kerry bumper sticker on her car.
Since you're so hung up on Kool-Aid, why don't you make yourself a big pitcher of cherry Kool-Aid and pour a bottle of Thunderbird in it. Just guzzle some down, and go to sleep, okay? You'll feel better in the morning. LOL!
Because most people don't care that much. Especially if it is not effecting business.
Some people do. But since it is out of step with what the majority of people do it can be categorized as extreme.
Does not mean that it was bad, just means that it is not run of the mill. It is like the lady who repeatedly brought pork products into the company lunch room after she was asked not to. She was fired. People were screaming about that but it was their property so they were in the right. However the position is out of the norm and therefore it was a bit extreme.
BTW, she might have a case if, but only if, he allows other employees to have political tags on their car that are parked in the company lot. If it is a company policy then she has no case.

Your Liberalism is shining through. Two posts on a thread and you've alredy determined that I'm an A-hole. Besides, you dumbass liberal, it's already morning for me. I've never been a kool-aid drinker and Thunderbird wine is also a liberal's drink. I prefer Boone's Farm myself. Grown yourself a brain, obtain an IQ larger than your shoe size and then come back for some intelligent conversation. Be sure to vote early and often for the Kerry/Edwards ticket on Nov 2. They need all the help they can get.
Just try to get some rest okay? I bet you're foaming at the mouth now.
Good night.
Says you, Bull Spunkey-punky.
I'm a small ($1.8m) businessman - garden center & nursery owner in Penna - and have been around that track 4x in 15 years, after hundreds of employees, with only less than a handful of problem employees, and the courts won't touch it. The EEOC/OSHA/FEDS cave on firings, every time; the exception being blatant discrimination, which is very, very hard to prove.
On my private - with public exclusion - property, I can fire an employee, for ANY REASON I deem worthy; likewise, I can ban a retail customer for ANY REASON I deem worthy. Other than obvious racial, sexual, handicapped etc discrimination, there are no legal limits on employers' ability to fire employees.
If I had one of the three-plus, previously-stated category employees, I certainly wouldn't use their *protection category* status to fire them. Rather, it would be, "It isn't working out. You're fired. No further discussion is warranted. Check will be in the mail on Friday at 3pm. Bye."
Come onto my property as an employee or customer with ANYTHING THAT OFFENDS ME, and I'll drop you like a 50lb sack of sh!t, on a 20mile hike, and throw you outta here! Try me; dare you.
The so-called *BS* you espouse, is in your obvious liberal head, spunky-punky.
LOL! Not at all. Only one person has the right to determine what is norm when it comes to displaying political advertisements...the owner. If the owner does not wish them it is the norm for his property and is not extreme in any manner whatsoever. It is his property and he determines the norm.
Kerry & Co. always need document authenticators.
Just try to get some rest okay? I bet you're foaming at the mouth now.
Good night.
One more liberal troller bites the dust. Enjoy DU.
Boone's Farm. I guess that says it all.
Boone's Farm. I guess that says it all.
You're even more of a DUMBa$$ than I thought. I don't even drink wine. I definitely don't drink kool-aid either. You fell for it ladylib. Believe EVERY word. Go back to your land of Liberalism, smoke some of that stuff, pack a few dark spots, marry your gay lover and live as a happy liberal forever after. Good day you old bag.

The complaint from the story:
"We were going back to work from break, and my manager told me that Phil said to remove the sticker off my car or I was fired," she said. "I told him that Phil couldn't tell me who to vote for. He said, 'Go tell him.' "
She went to Gaddis' office, knocked on the door and entered on his orders.
"Phil and another man who works there were there," she said. "I asked him if he said to remove the sticker and he said, 'Yes, I did.' I told him he couldn't tell me who to vote for. When I told him that, he told me, 'I own this place.' I told him he still couldn't tell me who to vote for."
Gobbell said Gaddis told her to "get out of here."
"I asked him if I was fired and he told me he was thinking about it," she said. "I said, 'Well, am I fired?' He hollered and said, 'Get out of here and shut the door.' "
She said her manager was standing in another room and she asked him if that meant for her to go back to work or go home. The manager told her to go back to work, but he came back a few minutes later and said, " 'I reckon you're fired. You could either work for him or John Kerry,' " Gobbell said."
I'll pass on the so-called "intelligent conversation" that you offered in your last post, okay?
Go jump in the lake, jerk. I promise I'll never post to you again if you won't post to me. Truce?
Sincerely hoping never, ever to hear from you again, good night and good riddance.
Just stop foaming at the mouth and try to get some rest, okay? You really will feel better in the morning.
Bye.
Once again, spunkey-punky:
