Heinz Kerry visits hurricane aid center ("but let them go naked for a while")

NEW YORK (AP) — Teresa Heinz Kerry, encouraging volunteers as they busily packed supplies Wednesday for hurricane relief efforts in the Caribbean, said she was concerned the effort was too focused on sending clothes instead of essentials like water and electric generators.

"Clothing is wonderful, but let them go naked for a while, at least the kids," said Heinz Kerry, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. "Water is necessary, and then generators, and then food, and then clothes."

Heinz Kerry stopped by a market in the heart of Brooklyn's Caribbean community, where she spoke French with Haitian vendors and shook hands with volunteers busy packing food, clothes and other relief supplies to be shipped to several Carribean islands hit by Hurricane Ivan. Her husband's campaign donated water, blankets and first aid kits.

"I think it's important we help all the kids we can," Heinz Kerry said.

Ivan swept through the Caribbean last week, killing more than 60 people and leaving tens of thousands homeless.

Dr. Roy A. Hastick Sr., president of the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and coordinator of the market's relief effort, said the visit helped make difficult days a bit brighter.

"It's a major boost for us and the community to show we have someone on a national level concerned with what's happening in the Caribbean region," Hastick Sr. said.

Supporters gathered on the sidewalk shouted "We love you," and "Good luck" as Heinz Kerry made her way to a waiting car.

Just as telling as her comment was the audacity she displayed in thinking she could dictate the work schedule. She was a freaking visitor and charitable contributor.

We make charitable contributions here in town. I don't presume to tell the volunteers here how I think they should distribute the items.

Her husband's campaign donated water, blankets and first aid kits.

NOT an attempt to make hay out of a disaster and buy votes at the same time. No. NOT.

By the way how large was the check Theresa left when she went home?

Here's your answer in the article:

"Her husband's campaign donated water, blankets and first aid kits."

IOW, from their own money - zero.

That must be a "gag' quote.

You really think that AP, who makes up stuff about Bush, is going to be making stuff up about the wife of their guy?

Well, they're just poor people y'know...poor people don't have the same need for decency and dignity as important people like Teresa. The common "worms who crawl about the earth" (to quote a famous 18th century snob)have no feelings that could be lacerated by being forced to expose themselves buck naked to the world.

We have an embarassment of riches, pajamarazzi. Danny-gate, DNC co-ordinated release of Bush-memos, and now "Marie-Therese Heinz" with her "Let them go naked" comment.

Marie-Therese was the wife of Louis XIV, and she, not Marie Antoinette was the one who said "Let them eat cake".

Interesting coincidence, isn't it? And Louis' wife would have pronounced her name with a ZZZZZZZ, too.

History and irony are out playing in the fields of the Lord, today.

Peter Yarrow of Peter , Paul and Mary is a great friend of John Kerry.
He has been a house guest of the Kerry's, flies on the Kerry jet, made appearances with Kerry in Iowa and entertained at their wedding.
He's also an admitted pedophile, who served time for taking indecent liberties at age 30, with a 14 yr old girl.
Jimmy Carter pardoned him so he wouldn't have to register as a sex offender.
I hope for the sake of Teresa's grand kids and the Edwards children, that when Yarrow is visiting, Teresa does not allow the young children to run around naked.
Imagine if Laura Bush said that little black kids in a disaster area should go naked- everyone from the NAACP to Jesse to Al Sharpton to Whoopie would be calling her a racist.

Noone has noted that the clothing comes from individual people who open closets, pull out clothes and give them to help others. Most humans don't own spare generators now do they. She was sniffing at the goodness and decency of Americans. She is insufferable.
