I think you're right. Liberals have often been caught lying in the past. They always say the same thing when cornered. they say, Yeah, may the information isn't strictly true at one level, but it has an "inner truth" and raises issues that need to be seriously considered -- or some such weasel-worded bull s*** like that.
Heyward's best solution is to get Rather to step down. That ain't happening, no way. So if Heyward cannot get Rather to step down he doesn't have a solution. That means if Heyward cannot effect a solution, Heyward becomes the problem. The longer it goes the more likely, those who run the company get rid of the problem by getting rid of both of them. Howell Raines took the fall that no one thought that he would have to. Today was key for both Heyward and Rather. The longer it continues the more likely they both go. They are not bigger than the company, even it is losing enterprise.

I think that Heyward's point is being missed. The questions he says CBS will pursue are not about the authenticity of the documents. CBS will pursue the President and demand he answer the questions raised by the documents. this fits with Rather's interview in the Observer. When he says all the questions about them he's talking about did Lt Bush disobet a direct order.

A flying-saucer cultist would be "satisfied" by fake UFO pictures that make the ships in Plan Nine From Outer Space look like NASA file photos. That doesn't make either forgery any more credible to sensible people.

This neatly sidesteps the distinction between quantity of evidence and quality of evidence. For instance, in my example a dozen flying-saucer cultists vouching for the photos would be an example of the former, but not the latter.
Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing.
Yes, I'm sure that SeeBS will henceforth exert twice as much effort to get to the bottom of this. This will not require any increase in effort, however; double nothing is still nothing.

I think the big thing is that she said Staudt had no influence over the TANG unit after his retirement.
The entire CBS argument needed Staudt, and Staudt was retired by 1973, if she could corroborate that, then the memo could still be fake, but the sentiments expressed could still be true, but without it the entire thing falls apart.
I have started bombarding the local advertisers of my local CBS affiliate & telling them the boycott is against them. This will destroy the local affiliates & prevent them from supporting the network. They are complete SCUM & total LIARs. We're going to have to take down this beast from the ground up.
Perfect, just perfect, the irony will be totally missed by the dims.
No discussion of the questions raised until what raises the questions is proven.
