Kenny; I have not been successful with the UCA contingent of the Young Democrats, nor have I heard from Jerrad on the Rebulican side of the fence. Any chance of a UALR team taking this on (see below)? It is my responsibility to get the presenters, and time is getting short. Any ideas would be welcome. Looking forward to a favorable response. Thanks, Larry Townsend Jacksonville,To:
Mr. Townsend, International Student Coordinator Mrs. Ames, Media Center Director Mrs. Allen, Principal Civics Class Presentations/Discussions for 2004 Presidential Election

Here is a summary of planning for presentations/discussions for the 2004 Presidential Election involving civics classes.

Purpose: To strengthen civics student awareness of 2004 Presidential campaign and to understand major issues before the American electorate. To learn to organize their own ideas about current major political issues. To learn to listen to controversial political points of view. To ask questions appropriately about controversial political points of view.. To write a 1-page summary of their interests and concerns in the 2004 Presidential campaign before and after the presentations/ discussions.

What: Civics students listen and respond to college-aged representatives of the Democrat and Republican parties (and possibly third parties) during class periods. When(provisional): Thu/14, Fri/15 and/or Mon 18 October 2004 during class periods.

Where: North Pulaski HS Media Center, Jacksonville.

How: For Mr Williams

Prepare memo to parents/guardians of this course of instruction for civics students to handcarry home. Prior to presentations/discussion, civics students will - learn about key features of the 2004 Democrat, Republican and third party platforms. - prepare small group reports about 2004 political platforms - submit questions for consideration by presenters - prepare After presentations/discussion, each civics student will prepare a 1-page synopsis of their interests and concerns in the 2004 Presidential campaign.

For Mr. Townsend Coordinate availability and participation of presenters.

Remarks: - Of course, presenters speak for themselves, not for PCSSD or NPHS. - Lunch at Simply Delicious will be provided to the presenters each day.
