Be Very Leary of Marian Carr Knox

Posted on 09/14/2004 10:08:17 PM PDT by The Bandit

Isn't Knox's story just what CBS needed? Here comes forward someone who is 87 years old who does not support Bush as president, deeming him "unfit for office" and "selected, not elected." This is right out of a left wing playbook.

Why Knox is good for CBS is because she diverts attention away from CBS's proven forged documents and places the emphasis on the contents -- just what CBS been desperately been trying and failing to do.

"The information in here [memos] was correct, but it was picked up from the real ones," she said. "I probably typed the information and somebody picked up the information some way or another."

Knox said she did all of Killian's typing, including memos for a personal "cover his back" file he kept in a locked drawer of his desk.

CBS could not have scripted a plan better to throw off questions about the mounting evidence that the Killian memos are forgeries. Did certain people visit Knox prior to her being found and interviewed by the Dallas Morning News? Surely CBS and other organizations knew it wouldn't be long before someone from the media contacted her.

Hopefully we have not heard the rest of Marian Carr Knox and she will be questioned further about typing memos that so far everyone who knew Jerry Killian have said he would never had any reason to produce in the first place.

Her son, when her home was called, told the reporter that the old bitty would not be elaborating on her comments to the Star.

I did a little more hunting and came up with this quotation from another thread now being discussed:

"[Knox] said the military jargon in the documents would be used in the Navy or Army and not the Air Force. Also, she said the font used for the documents did not match fonts used on either the manual Olympia or IBM Selectric typewriters she used while working there."

If this is such a great plan by CBS, why is she insisting the memos are forgeries?

Well, they are taking a helluva beating by insisting the memo's are real, so why not cut their loses and say OK, they may not be the actual memos but Rather memos reconstructed of the ones that someone REALLY saw! And of course Knox confirms there was REALLY such memos....so the story is really true after all.

It does make sense. From their perspective, they get to give up the memos themselves but keep the charges. I don't think the public is going to buy it, though. Showing us forged memos made us ANGRY. Lying about the forged memos made us ANGRY. Changing the subject makes us ANGRY.

But she is clearly a leftists nut or has been coached.

She's like my Mother-in-Law (85) It probably will show up that all she typed up was also done in MS Word!!!

nah, I really can't see CBS using one 86 year old lady against everyone else in the world as proof. But they could be desperate to try.

She's even using the current DNC charge about Bush being a person of privilege.

Which is not true. 41 was not that important at the time, especially in a heavily democratic dominated State!!!

"She gave herself away with all those Democrat talking points..."

Sounds to me as if she also used some NAACP talking points.

Also, in the Drudge story, he quotes her as having said she voted for Gore in 2000 and will vote for Kerry in 2004...because Bush isn't qualified.

Finally, President Ronald W. Wilson was into his 4th year of Alzheimers when he was 87. I have been acquainted, in my business, with dozens of folks in their mid to late 80's and I can't remember any who would remember names and details of "youngsters" who were among the thousands that she would have typed about during her 23 years (56-79) with the TNG. Noting too that 1979 was 25 years ago.

She may be well coached but she could not stand up to an indepth interview.

Consider.
Knox said last week she had not seen the disputed documents obtained by CBS, but was reacting to news reports challenging their authenticity, primarily by countering claims that Killian did not keep copies.

Last week, Knox said she had no firsthand knowledge of Bush's time with the Texas Air National Guard, although she did recall a culture of special treatment for the sons of prominent people, such as Bush and others.

The documents are fake.

Nothing else about Bush's ANG service will ever get traction. It's over. That subject is over.

It's all about the intent of the thoughts of a dead guy who left no proof on what he thought.

Yeah.

That's unimpeachable.

An undertaking fraught with peril, in my opinion. It would be SO easy for the RATs to paint even the gentlest questioning as politically-motivated intimidation of an old lady.

Knox did not say this. You're making it up.

I saw that quote in a posted article here. I think she did indeed say it.

I just have to spam this to a few threads:

"She added, though, that there's no way Staudt could have exerted that influence after he retired."

First Area of Research - Did she actually work any weekends that W served? She did great psycoanalysis of Lt Bush and knows his inner most thoughts. Don't forget that often National Guards are manned through the week with full-time Army Staff Sgts, etc. and perhaps that is when she worked, rather than on weekends.
