Be Very Leary of Marian Carr Knox

Posted on 09/14/2004 10:08:17 PM PDT by The Bandit

Isn't Knox's story just what CBS needed? Here comes forward someone who is 87 years old who does not support Bush as president, deeming him "unfit for office" and "selected, not elected." This is right out of a left wing playbook.

Why Knox is good for CBS is because she diverts attention away from CBS's proven forged documents and places the emphasis on the contents -- just what CBS been desperately been trying and failing to do.

"The information in here [memos] was correct, but it was picked up from the real ones," she said. "I probably typed the information and somebody picked up the information some way or another."

Knox said she did all of Killian's typing, including memos for a personal "cover his back" file he kept in a locked drawer of his desk.

CBS could not have scripted a plan better to throw off questions about the mounting evidence that the Killian memos are forgeries. Did certain people visit Knox prior to her being found and interviewed by the Dallas Morning News? Surely CBS and other organizations knew it wouldn't be long before someone from the media contacted her.

Hopefully we have not heard the rest of Marian Carr Knox and she will be questioned further about typing memos that so far everyone who knew Jerry Killian have said he would never had any reason to produce in the first place.

That's "leery," not "leary."

Bingo. You put your finger on the exact reasons I found this both disturbing and suspicious.

Doesnt matter what she says. She has no proof. It contradicts the son, who was active duty and the widow. The documents are forged. Nothing she says can change that. All she does is sound extremely partisan and therefore will be dismissed as such when she makes these comments against Bush. If she had played it cool, she would have been taken seriosly. But she is clearly a leftists nut or has been coached.

nah, I really can't see CBS using one 86 year old lady against everyone else in the world as proof. But they could be desperate to try.

But in another thread, someone brought up the point that if you didn't know the memos were fake. It all looks like a coordinated effort. CBS brings out the memos, DNC has its ad campaign ready to go, this lady would have been brought out to "verify" the memos. But they were spotted being fake so fast, the whole thing looks like a bad version of a python skit now.

I think somebody who lives relatively close by should go and visit with her and scope her out...

i still do not know or understand why someone writes them self a note to cover your hiney.

i mean, if it was THIS much of a problem, would he have told his wife? I tell my wife everything.

Oh wait, thats right, have the secretary type of a memo reminding your self to watch your back, but dont tell your wife.

sounds legit to me.

where did this person say specifically that she DID type the memo? to me, it sounds like someone is being coached to say what needs to be said to "get the question answered" because its obvious that the dnc have been caught with their pants down.

here is the bigger question i keep asking my self - WHY does the kerry campaign believe this is a winning issue? we need to figure that out - that will give us the answer we are looking for.

She didn't do a very good job. She gave herself away with all those Democrat talking points, plus she admitted that she only spoke up because she heard the White House spokesperson say that the docs were not true. Okay, so you are going to sit around KNOWING that the docs are probably forgeries because you were the guys secretary, and you are going to just let that slide? But you jump in the fray only when you think the details will not be believed? Nope. She's a player, not a truth teller. She's even using the current DNC charge about Bush being a person of privilege. It's just too handy-dandy a package to be credible.

"The information in here [memos] was correct, but it was picked up from the real ones," she said.

She wouldn't happen to have any DOCUMENTS to backup her bullshit story would she? Didn't think so.

100,000 or more dollars will do that. Soros and Barnes and Heinz have lots of MONEY. An old lady (everybody really) is succeptible to that.

Absolutely, the son and wife would know much better the truth beside what ever she says does not change the facts the papers were forged.

Exceedingly bad idea, IMO. The lady is an admitted RAT partisan but she's also 87 years old. Pumping her for information would be the political equivalent of kicking your dog, an act guaranteed to bring down the wrath of every voter out there who ever had sweet old gray-haired grandparents or who saw "Batteries Not Included" in the cinema.

In this case, I think we should nod and smile and give her the respect an octogenarian deserves, and leave her alone.

I was afraid of this.

No one cares. The NFL has arrived. Baseball is going into the home stretch. Hurricanes are transfixing the nation, and John F. Kerry has a 36% approval rating. With America distracted, there is no way he can possibly get back to even with Bush.

If he had a "locked" private drawer where he kept the cya files, then who would have had them. When he left the guard he would have boxed them up and taken them home or destroyed them as he wouldn't need them any more. If he had taken them home, certainly, his wife/son would have access to them. Who else would have any reason to keep copies for so long and why would copies to given to anyone from his private files. I remember going thru my father's paper after his death. It's been over twenty years and believe me, I don't have any of his papers laying around.

This just doesn't make sense that someone would keep documents even if you thought they had existed. And where are the others? Surely, there would have been more than 4-6 pages.

She says she did all Killian's typing? Are her lower case initials on any authentic documents?
