Rep. Cox Requests House Rathergate Probe
NewsMax ^ | Sept 14

A senior House Republican has formally requested a congressional investigation into an apparent criminal conspiracy to rig the 2004 presidential election by forging records from President Bush's National Guard service and having them reported by CBS News.

In a letter Tuesday night to Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich., chairman of the Subcommittee of Telecommunications and the Internet, Rep Christopher Cox, R-Calif., called for a probe into what he described as "the continued use by CBS News of apparently forged documents concerning the service record of President George W. Bush intended to unfairly damage his reputation and influence the outcome of the 2004 presidential election."

Wow, finally! I hope they get to bottom of it. Thanks for the good news, Brian.

While Rather should of course be kicked out and never show his face on TV again, I see nothing good that can come out of a congressional probe. Such things are always politicized, to the point that the politics overshadow the matters supposedly being investigated.

Once again, NewsMax fails to credit the story to HH. Hugh Hewitt was behind this. It was from his web site they found this. (I doubt they click through house web pages until they find something useful, at least not on an hourly basis)

I've always been a huge Chris Cox fan. He'd make an excellent spokesman/point man on any Congressional probe into this matter.

Good news!

"Just what we don't need"

No kidding. And please keep Trent Lott out of sight - he always manages to screw things up when we get momentum on outing Dem cheaters.

I'm not keen on the idea of Congressional hearings at this point in time. If CBS wants to be the televsion equivalent of Air America, so be it.

But the fact is CBS is damaging itself well enough without politicians getting involved.

Yes, Congressional investigations, but first ban CBS from moderating the presidential debate on October 13th (I don't know how to do the raised th). I nominate Buckhead as debate moderator.

Long overdue. Start putting these frauds in jail. The Democrats just love special counsels and jail terms. Let THEM be the targets this time!

Forgive my reticence but I would hate to see a situation where President Bush pulls the rug out from under Congressman Cox's feet.

You know how he is about that whole "New Tone In Washington" thing.
