So. What is the most absolutely desperate move CBS could make in an attempt to defend its now widely-discredited memos?
How about accusing the forensic document examiners that doubt the veracity of the memos of being agents of the Republican Party?
Just heard from a very reliable source that CBS is looking into the political donations of document examiner Sandra Ramsey Lines, fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, who assessed the memos for CNN and for the Associated Press.
Did some digging myself, and found in a database maintained by the Center for Public Integrity, a campaign finance watchdog group, Lines has donated a little under $600 to the WISH List, a fundraising organization for Republican women candidates.
Ah. Well, she must be lying, then. (eye roll)
(Keep in mind that Ben Barnes, the central figure in Rathers report, has raised more than a half million dollars for Kerrys campaign.)
All of the document examiners consulted by the mainstream media who say the documents look like fakes are putting their partisan allegiance to the GOP over their professionalism? Every last one of them?
I had heard, from some folks claiming to be in the know, that some producers at CBS had gone... a little over the edge as a result of this story, quoting Michael Moore at length and putting tremendous faith in the most far-fetched of conspiracy theories. I had dismissed these reports as exaggerations. I mean, network news producers don't just go nuts.
In light of this... maybe they do.

Jim Geraghty reports in TKS that CBS is looking into the political donations of document examiner Sandra Ramsey Lines, fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, who assessed the memos for CNN and for the Associated Press. Whats good for the goose: if youre curious as to whom/what CBS personnel are making political contributions, go to www.opensecret.org and plugged in CBS for the occupation in the individual contributors search function. I did that for the 2002 and 2004 election cycles, and the results are lopsided: over $163,000 was donated (warning: some is from companies that have CBS in their titles, but arent part of the media giant) to individual candidates or to Viacom (the CBS corporate parent). And nearly every penny sent to an individual campaign from a discernible CBS employee, whether from the news, entertainment, or corporate divisions, went to a Democrat. Look for yourself here. Most of Viacoms donations in the current cycle are going to Republicans (PACS typically give to incumbents and the party running Capitol Hill), but in 2002 the donation split was only 51-49 in favor of the GOP.Hmmm...who'd a thunk it?
Emphasis Added.
CBS News: Nutjobs, whackos, morons.
How...Nixonian of them. Clintonian, too, come to think of it.

Deserving of much more analysis and discussion (any pointers?).
And exactly how many connections are there between rats and CBS? Probably a number that requires scientific notation to express. Yet they're hoping to focus attention on Sandra Ramsey! What a hoot.
This ought to get interesting.
Just how are they going to discredit Dr. Newcomer, who has already said that he is not a Bush fan?
This guy, "Strong" they've used is a Kerry Koolaid guy too.

Hmmm....and Ben Barnes belongs to or has appeared at which party in which county in Texas? Hmm...
Whatta list. Nah, CBS isn't in the tank for the DNC. All except the lawn care guy from Las Vegas, apparently.
" How low will they go"........"How low will they go"....
Cha cha cha .....
"How low will they go".......
They're stuck -- this is not just a Dan Rather thing, it's institutional. And they did it knowingly, and they can't not have known.
If they admit this, Dan Rather is out. Don Hewitt is out. 60 Minutes is dead. CBS News is exposed for the biased, Democrat-supporting organization we all know it to be.
Had they fessed up on day 1, they might have scraped by. But now they're stuck. They can't admit it, or they're ruined. So, in the inimitable words of Bill Clinton, they "just have to win."
I have proof! I have a 2003 document produced by an outer space alien from Zacra, unfortunately no human can read it because earthly technology is not advanced enough.
But all MUST believe my story because my neighbor is an expert on alien technology and he swears that the alien's signature is authentic.
Simply amazing...CBS just keeps on digging. Mabye they will catch up to their ratings.
