...Bill Clinton consistently got better headlines than the two Bushes on such key matters as unemployment and GDP growth, the researchers say.
...While one could speculate that judgments of what was "favorable" and "unfavorable" were partly subjective, the findings won't come as a big surprise to many people, especially to Republicans. Other surveys have shown that most major-league journalists are registered Democrats, and one might expect that their political affiliations would have some tiny effect on their objectivity. Some polls also show a declining trust in the quality of news reporting, by the way.
...So even if some editors let their personal views get in the way of objective headline writing or some big-time anchormen sneer at George W., it apparently doesn't have much effect on how people vote....
No doubt John Kerry and his sidekick John Edwards, have been wishing secretly that the American economy would go into a funk before Nov. 2. They would of course never admit to hoping for ill fortune....
Unfortunately for them, it doesn't look as if it will happen. With only 60 days to go before e-day, there are no portents of the American economy tanking....
[T]he producer price index.... crude oil prices ... Alan Greenspan ... economic recovery had "regained some traction" gave both the stock and bond markets a lift....
...For many, home equity is going up....
...[T]he high level of employment and a continued decline in unemployment. The latest data show that nearly 140 million Americans have jobs and that the unemployment rate has declined to 5.4%.....
...[R]eal disposable personal income, has been climbing steadily. This may help account for why retail sales in July were up 5.5% from a year earlier.... [T]he U.S. economy will grow by more than 4% this year from 2003....

What is the current economic growth rate? I remember specifically that it was 2.3% in 1996, and that was 'good news' on the economy for Clinton. Last year we were far exceding that. What is that rate today?
Well I am old enough to remember a time when Democrats actually wished our country well...peace, prosperity, world stature, etc. Even when they weren't in power. At least I think they did, but maybe it was all just an illusion?!
If I remember correctly, it's 3% growth.
I bet that another terrorist attack would have Kerry's desired effect on the economy... but another terrorist attack would allow Dubya to demonstrate leadership in a time of crisis, and probably help Bush. Should Kerry hope for another attack, or not? What a quandry!
Ya gotta feel sorry for these guys. They are like the gang that couldn't shoot straight.
Question for tomorrow: Will Dan Rather drink the purple Kool-Aid for Kerry?
The theme of the 2004 elections: "It's the fake memos, stupid"
I like the WSJ.
Money well spent every day.
Where's Kerry? Edwards? Working on talking points for the debates? Will they ever answer questions from the press? So many questions, so few answers.
At least LBJ knew when to quit.
Not nearly as bad as the dems who jump for joy every time another American hero soldier loses his life.
I've seen it myself on another forum. My son is in Iraq and it makes me ill knowing that supposed Americans would take delight for political reasons if he lost his life. democrats are a sick sick bunch.
Doesn't seem to make any difference. They still talk about it as if we'er in the middle of the Depression. Truth and the Dems don't even have a nodding acquaintence.
PING!!
Oh wait, this is a positive story on the economy. Nevermind.
Edwards is still on the ticket??
Somebody dig up Lassie, I think Johnny must have fallen down a well or something.
Senator Kerry says we're in a bad economy in America. He compares this economy to the one under Herbert Hoover.
John Kerry is crackers and a liar and an empty suit.
Other than that, he's perfect for us.
Besides, what does he know of the private sector?...other than his stunning ability to marry into it successfully.
And where, all of a sudden, is John "Hope is on the way" Edwards? He is scarcer than hen's teeth. Gee, I thought he was such a big addition to the Democratic ticket?
And what, please, will her highness(Teresa)say next to make us all proud? Remember, folks, it's tough work being a snob. It requires a great deal of diligence and devotion to duty.
Well, I do go on this morning. I guess another cup of coffee is in order!
Technically, yes, but he is devoting most of his time preparing for his lawsuit against John Forges Kerry after they are defeated in the election. He figures he can sue Kerry for running an incompetent campaign, and get most of Tuh-ray-zuh's money.
The only people who continue to be duped by the Democrat-leaning economic media are the young, teens and college students.
Once a person enters the real world and sees things for themselves, they make their own judgements.(mostly, anyway)
It's mostly ers who still believe the stories and headlines put forth by the upper crust of the Democratic controlled media types.
