Fox News All Stars with Brit Hume Now Treating Docs as Fakes
Hank All-American | Sep 13, 2004 | Hank All-American

Posted on 09/13/2004 3:57:28 PM PDT by Hank All-American

I just finished watching the all-star round table discussion with Brit Hume, Fred Barnes, Mort Kondracke, and Mara Liasson on Fox. No longer are they giving serious consideration to the possibility the Bush ANG documents are not fakes. Even Liasson more or less admitted there was no chance they were real. She also admitted the burden of proof was on the people making the allegation, and that this had "blown-up" in the face of the Bush-haters.

This segment was notable in that this is the first time I've seen the issue treated without the seemingly-obligatory agnosticism we've been seeing. They said they were fake and took CBS to task. Kudos to Brit Hume for pointing out this had virtually nothing to do with Bush showing up in Alabama, but contained new allegations about favorable treatment and pressure from higher-ups that have no substantiation if the documents are fake. Liasson grudgingly agreed.

In fact, to paraphrase a former Texas governor, she looked like she realized there was nothing she could do about it, so ... you know the rest.

I've never watched O'Reilly, but recently, from what I hear, he is utterly, totally in the tank.

O'Reilly just said in his show that faking documents is done by Bush-bashers and Kerry-bashers all the time, so Rather is not at fault!

"I switched channels....He just blows it off."

Me too. There's always Rush, Liddy, or music.

I think it's pretty well established that the documents are now fake. I just want to know the source of the fake documents and all those involved. I hope someone is actively investigating this.

Dan was not had and he is not in denial. He is more than old enough to remember what old typewriter print looks like and he was in an ideal profession to be exposed to PLENTY of it.

There's NO WAY he could have looked at these memos and not had his suspicion aroused. He is just flat-out lying and has been from the beginning.

"I'm hoping to see Brit bitch-slap O'Reilly into CNN..."

Gad, don't even mention the O'Blow after today. Wife and haven't tuned in to his Factor for sometime. Today coming back from Lake Havasu City AZ we blundered onto his radio show. He was defending CBiaS and Gunga Dan big time, the wife started yelling, for pete's sake, get rid of that 8astard.

So, hit the seek button, lo and behold, found one Laura Ingraham, damn what a breath of fresh air she was. Found her humor far more entertaining than Rush's.

We had never heard either the O'Blow or Laura for not in the vehicle buring their shows. We listen to Rusho in the AM until noon and them switch to FNC on the tube.

I was flipping the channels and hit some news panel show, only recognized one person but they were talking Memogate so I paused.

Suddenly one guy starts ranting that the question of the memo's authenticity is making it impossible for legitimate journalists to cover the *content* of the memo.

I swear it, that's what he said.

Turns out it was David Brock.

Click.

I was referring to the TV show that is on now...The dismissive tone in his voice just grates on me..

"Don't bring Nixon into this! He was one of the best presidents we had,..."

please...Nixon was a Rhino. For gun control, price controls, big government. His saving grace was his accumen for foreign policy. He chose to brake the law when he didn't even have to. His character came through...under pressure he resorted to coverup over the truth. If he had sacked Dean and his idiots and acted "clean" he would have finished out his term.

Ronald Reagan was and still is the best President of my lifetime...The rest are not worth to be in his shadow. GW included.

I noticed that Juan was not on the panel today. He must still be recovering from last weeks panel discussion.

In the last years of his life, Nixon was a buddy of Bill Clinton. Clinton had nothing but glowing words for Nixon once he took office, he even eulogized him at his funeral.

"Don't bring Nixon into this!"

I don't share your opinion of Nixon but I believe this is a great comparison to make. Comparing Dan Rather to a liar, "crook", and someone they themselves loath and consider a blight on America has got to be something difficult for them to swallow. Depending how this whole event unfolds, this might be what Dan Rather is remembered most for and he knows it.

My daughter was livid over the fact that the content is deemed important even if the docs are fake..

They've been floating the content around Texas for years with no success...so the "new documents" were created to give it gravitas..Ignore the fraud and trust us, they say!

Trust me, gang..Bush isn't an unknown running for President..He IS President and has a record to run on..Nobody cares about the content...but we do care about frauds and WHO got together to try to sabatoge the President's reelection...and perpetrate a fraud on we the people!

In that case, there's always CSI. I have cable but I'm to cheap to pay for all the extras so I don't get any of the cable news networks stations.

Bush needs to sue for huge bucks, or Rather will be there at the next election pulling the same see-BS again.

Well, in the last few weeks, Mara has been refreshingly honest.

Yes, I agree. I think Mara is a good journalist who usually allows her objectivity to win out over her natural liberal nature....that's not an easy thing to do, so I applaud her for it.

Only See-BS is still claiming the papers are true.

What is the difference between an assassin going out to target practice on a sitting POTUS with an AK-47 and a journalist who attempts to falsely smear a sitting POTUS with a pen or microphone? IMHO, there is a very thin line between the two scenarios and Mr Rather should fess-up else the FBI might be rapping on his door! But then again, the FBI quite obviously got tired of rapping on the door of the guy who (inadvertently) stole the classified documents from the National Archives? Maybe Danny boy expects the same treatment???????

So far as the MSM are concerned, up to now the forged documents have been the elephant in the room. Maybe by being the first to break the media's code of silence, Hume will have opened the floodgates so that others will start calling them what they really are - out and out forgeries.

Speaking of Nixon, I caught a bit of something on C-SPAN: Condi Rice speaking at an organization named for Jesse Helms. She was talking about the early years of the Cold War and singled out Dean Acheson for praise.

Richard Nixon used to speak of "the Dean Acheson College of Cowardly Communist Containment."

I accuse Dan Rather of having something to do with the production of the fake docs. (I seriously believe this. Ihave no evidence of this, but i accuse him anyway). And it is the accusation that is important.
