Holbrooke on Fox News - "Iraq is another Vietnam"
FR | 9-12-04 | Bob J

Richard Holbrooke was making the case that Iraq is already another Vietnam. If that's so, he must be signaling that if Kerry is elected, he'll bugout within four months than lie about his Iraq accomplishments in his run for Secretary General of the UN.

His band of brothers then will be Carville, Begala, Clinton and probably have the video to prove it.

Does anyone have details on what Holbrooke has referred to numerous times over the years as his "three years of service in Vietnam"?

Wallace's best question was on Kerry's "coalition of bribed and coerced" comment: "Was Britain bribed or was it coerced?" He then proceeded to list other major allies such as Australia and Poland with the same question.

That's okay by me. I enjoy being hated by the likes of Dick Holbrooke. In fact I consider it an honor to be hated by those of his tribe.

This Holybook is one of the more obnoxious members of the Kerry entourage, right after his lovable wife and Carville.

Kerry served in Vietnam before he served against his comrades there. Kerry voted for the war in Iraq before he voted against funding it. That's how Iraq is like Vietnam.

Very good points, I agree 100% the 'Rats could give damn about anyone who wears the uniform, unless it serves their purpose. Or unless they are willing to write books about how the horrors of the military, and atrocities committed by war criminals, errr um American "war criminals".

Of course the VC neeeeever tortured US POWS. They were slaughtering cattle to feed American POWS while their own people starved, or so the party line goes today.

How many swift boats do we have deployed in Iraq?

What do you suggest as an alternative? Pretend that everything is going according to plan and keep posting "good news from Iraq" threads nice and day? As we sink deeper into this mess, the Vietnam analogy (like it or not) is pretty darn close.

He is power-hungry, egotistical....

Say no more. Holbrooke reminds me of my brother-in-law. The benchmark of behavior about which I measure all the major a**holes of this world.

Holbrooke is a man in desperate need of some "rough justice". Reasoning does not work with that degree of egotism.

I am fed up with 'conservatives' who refer to America's involvement in Vietnam in the negative. Our cause was just and we fought with honor. The only ones who should hang their heads in shame are those Americans who did not support our efforts in Vietnam and allowed our leaders to acquiesce to the demands of the limp-wristed, vocal minority during the 1960s and 1970s. Vietnam was a quagmire only because some snot-nosed, college aged baby boomers, along with political and media leaders from the 'Greatest Generation' conspired to screw this country into the ground.

"Iraq will be another Vietnam if we keep letting the Leftists in the media and the Congress tell us how miserably we're failing when the problems we're experiencing are nothing more than speedbumps on the road to liberty."

[dingdingdingdingding!] We have a winna!

First of all, one of Murphy's Laws of Combat is, No plan survives first contact with the enemy. It might not be "going according to plan" but things are far from dismal. There are some pockets of resistance but they are being dealt with. Is it just me or is there a new "Holy Shrine" or "Holy City" everywhere the terrorists go?

Second, "like it or not" we won the war, we are currently rebuilding (or considering the state prior to the war should I say, building) a nation. We never got to that phase in Vietnam. The rebuilding of Germany and Japan didn't go so smoothly at first either. Insurgents plagued troops in both countries for years after VE and VP. We won by our tenacity.

We must be related, elbucko. My brother-in-law is the same way. Needless to say, he's a down-the-line liberal too. And he actually believes Kerry is going to win easily. I'm saving up my taunts for November 3, which should probably be declared a second national day of Thanksgiving.

Yep. Take cheer in the knowledge that we make their lives miserable, and the momentum is in our favor.

Stop listening to the Pravda liberal press my friend... listen to those soldiers recently returned from Iraq that testified to congress that things although not all rosey are not all bad either...There was no Tonkin Gulf incident that got us in Iraq, it was the imminent threat that Sadaam posed to the US in a post 9/11 world and yes I was there at the beginning of the war and yes it was shock and awe and maybe the military leaders didn't have plans for the insurgency but the president did have a plan to turn over the country to the Iraqi's and he has done that and we will prevail.. Unless of course John Kerry wins and decides to be sensitive and give up... and that will be vietnam...

totally agree with your post... My point was that Kerry will withdrawl us from Iraq before the hard work is done and when he does it will be a failed state much as what happened in Vietnam after the Anti-War movement pressured the government to withdrawl.... sorry I didn't clarify my post as such.

And when W. wins re-election, I hope you shove it down your brother-in-law's throat. Then take him outside and break his nose.
