If we limited our choices for POTUS (or any other office for that matter)to people without blemish there would be no candidates on the ballot. People don't care about Bush's National Guard record! And he is not running on it! On the other hand, John Kerry is running on his...

I think the only reason we are all interested in this memo story is that it means another nail in the coffin of CBS and the public exposure of what Bernie Goldberg has so well-described as "bias" and "arrogance," both terms that fit Dan Rather to a t...

You could add this to your opening list:
-George Bush did not write a book trashing the American veterans of Foreign Wars my mocking the Iwo Jima troops on the book cover-complete with an UPSIDE DOWN AMERICAN FLAG being hoisted beside kerry's name.
( John Kerry DID write a book, called the 'New Soldier' [find at wintersoldier.com ]) A book he has tried to hide from Americans who want to know his ability to command our troops.
PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that we are interested because this is an opportunity to do great damage to an enemy member of the mainstream media. CBS and Dan Ra
ther deserve this mess.
I am still confused why the RATS have so badly miscalculated. This is their answer to the SwiftVets? As I pointed out, there is no comparison. People are beginning to understand that O'Neill and his group are not Republicans. This is payback to the man who turned against them and their country.

DFU, you are 'on point' as always.
Thanks for taking the time to put in words what I have been thinking too. I thought I was alone on my island saying that the media is acting like GWB's 4 years as POTUS count for nothing. We know how he will respond in a crisis, the same CANNOT be said about Kerry. In fact his behavior during the campaign is worrisome when it comes to his ability to handle a crisis.

We have a proven Commander in Chief.
That sums it up right there. The reason allegations about Pres. Bush's past have no weight with voters is that after four years having him as President they know his character. In 2000 when his character was unknown, things like dui's and allegations of special treatment mattered. Now it's kerry who is the unknown. That is why any allegations regarding his lack of integrity or honesty are taken much more seriously by undecided voters.

Thanks for writing it all down for me. Copied, printed and placed in my car for the photocopier. Next time someone brings it up, I shall simply hand them this list.
Thanks again doug, you're one of the finest!

What amazes me is that it is CBS's responsibility to prove it's case.
The debate MUST switch to CBS's proving its contention is accurate OR it becomes a just a matter of interpretation.
But since they are making the charge, it is CBS's duty to either prove it's case or withdraw the charge.
When will the media and the RNC make this point?
The entire debate hangs on this distinction.

========================================
Before printing it, get out your IBM Selectric Composer and make a few change because of my typos ---
- George Bush was not the cause of men being tortured because they would not admit to his false charges war crimes. ( should be, charges of war crimes)
- George Bush did not first vote YES and then NO when it came to given our troops the support they need. (should be, came to giving our troops)

This is what I've been saying to anyone who will listen, even emailing talk show hosts who don't seem to understand this principle. President Bush NOT a first termer. He does not need further vetting.
Plus...We already know he is a very capable CIC, and that should count as military service, so he has added almost four more years, with his term as President.
AND has showed up every day!!!

The RATS have made a big deal about how the President's family had influence which allowed him to jump ahead of HUNDREDS of others to get in the National Guard. If he had been trying to get into the ARMY national guard that might have been true, however, George W. Bush applied to the AIR National Guard which only had a few men on the list because the requirements were such that only a few were able to qualify. This has been verified by others who also got into the Air National Guard at the same time.

AND has showed up every day!!!Meanwhile Congressional records show that Kerry can barely manage to show up at all with one of the highest absenteeism rates in the Congress.

Just to add a caveat, VP Cheney was the Sec. of Defense during the first Gulf War. I think he has proven his service to the defense of this nation as well. The whole argument from the Democrats is moot!
