speaking of laws; what are the legal ramifications if (or when) these forgeries are proved to be forgeries? Does the Killian family have a right to sue? If the docs. were really Col. Killians private files, were they stolen? I know the press has a right to protect it's sources but can they protect a criminal act?

"another thing, they seem to be doing over and over today, is linking the Forged Memos story to the "new" poll that says President Bush is 6 ahead of Kerry ( as if thats bad, but they are saying "slipped in the polls") each time they run the story....to try and hint the memos have hurt President Bush..."
I noticed that also; they have done that with each 'telling' of this - what should be - no more than a criminal debacle - but rather diminishing the fraud here by closing with poll numbers.
I wondered if this is what it takes for this story to 'made' fair and balanced. . .a slap to the Demrats; and then a 'thumbs up' to the Dems; at least imlying that their lying strategies are working.

Actually, it is. Although that excludes it as an indication
of forgery, it probably helps place WHEN these memos were
forged.
Chances are, the clumsy forger/prankster was not familiar
with the details of GW's ANG service.
They had to rely on info in the documents the White House
released. When did that happen?

While they never would, could the Whitehouse limit CBS' access to press conferences and briefings due to their unprofessional conduct?

I'm not a lawyer, but it does seem that there must be a law against forging official documents, particularly military docs.

another thing, they seem to be doing over and over today, is linking the Forged Memos story to the "new" poll that says President Bush is 6 ahead of Kerry ( as if thats bad, but they are saying "slipped in the polls") each time they run the story... First, welcome to FR.
I noticed the same thing. Fox News is doing the same thing. Amazing, has been for a long time to me, that of 20 supposedly "indeependent" media outlets, all 20 have the same stories, same phrasing, same relative importance, etc. Proof positive, media is managed from the top, and is NOT 20 independent outlets.
That being said, I don't get the same linkage you concluded, that the forgeries have hurt Bush. BUT, if they have, WOW! That is even more damaging to the MSM cause. Publication of a story based on forged memos being shown to impact the voter! That makes the forgery "even worse!"
Anyway, the sense that I get is that the poll story is a non-sequiter to the forgery story. The intent being to show that Bush has lost momentum, without explaining why. I would like to see an EXPRESSED linkage, that the CBS story has damaged Bush's standing in the polls.

That's funny as hell. I never made the connection. I remember the mugging; I wasn't aware of the resolution.
I guess they didn't have tin-foil hats back then?

Yeah, I got it now. Ask Yahoo! says the REM song was inspired by the beating.

The REM song was allegedly about the beating incident. I can't stand REM, so I can neither confirm nor deny.

Buckhead deserves the R.A. COOK SCAM EXPOSURE TROPHY for busting Ol' Dan's chops. Mr. Cook, I still marvel at the work you did in 2000 to expose the fraudulent Florida ballots. Kudos to you too, sir!

when did TX start using six number zip codes? Don't know that they ever did.
What we are talking about here is a Post Office box, not a ZIP code.

Thanks, Tioga. I don't do anything here but comment and follow through. Just emailed all three email addresses. Complained to the FEC that CBS is trying to influence a Pres. election and it is past time they do something about it.
