Looks like we're going to be forced to use chopsticks in the near future.

Too bad. I've been buying Oneida for 17 years. Let's face it if you have any kind of factory job in this country no matter what your supervisor says you should be preparing to do something else.

Wow. You're soooo smart. And funny, too!

You ought to head up to Oneida and share your sense of humor with the community. I'm sure they'd appreciate it even more than we do here at FR.

Oneida was originally founded as a commune. I am only surprised that they lasted this long. Although I'm sure as good Scientific Socialists, they adapted numerous Capitalistic practices as time went on.

Even Lefty's have to face reality once in a while. Maybe these folks can all get cocooned Academia jobs?

How can this be?

I thought Hillary's listening tour took care of all the manufacturing problems in upstate New York.

I'm surprised that neither the article nor any other posters have mentioned the fact that Oneida silverware was established as the money-making enterprise of a famous commune, the Oneida Society. This community, established in the mid 19th century, practiced a form of group marriage.

This is a good thing. The labor and capital can now be allocated to something worthwhile.

Wow, first L.E. Smith Glass, now Oneida flatware. Very sad. I have Oneida's Louisiana pattern.

Unfortunately, businesses that lose money close down. That's the way the world works. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure this out. If you don't figure out a way to run your business and actually make a profit, you're sunk.

Let's face it, the American whale oil and candle industries have been hurting for years now.

For once, the blame doesn't fall on Hillary. The fault lies with state government. New York has the highest combined state and local taxes in the country, crushing workers' comp costs, some of the highest utility costs in the country and an oppressive regulatory environment.

Does this mean that if I want to keep using the same silverware pattern that I'd better stock up? Seriously. I love my Oneida flatware!

All factories in the USA will shutdown eventually because they cannot compete against communist China's 40 cents an hour workforce and zero environmental laws.

Apparently the Republican party and most Demo-rats are OK with this fact.

I wonder how long America will survive with its working class citizens reduced to minimum wage door greeters at the great-wall mart.

Thank you New York State.
