This September 11 marks the third unforgettable anniversary of the worst mass murder in American history.
After September 11, many in the Muslim world chose denial and hallucination rather than face up to the sad fact that Muslims perpetrated the 9-11 terrorist acts and that we have an enormous problem with extremism and support for terrorism. Many Muslims, including religious leaders, and intellectuals blamed 9-11 on a Jewish conspiracy and went as far as fabricating a tale that 4000 Jews did not show up for work in the World Trade Center on 9-11. Yet others blamed 9-11 on an American right wing conspiracy or the U.S. Government which allegedly wanted an excuse to invade Iraq and steal Iraqi oil.
After numerous admissions of guilt by Bin Laden and numerous corroborating admissions by captured top level Al-Qaida operatives, we wonder, does the Muslim leadership have the dignity and courage to apologize for 9-11? If not 9-11, will we apologize for the murder of school children in Russia? If not Russia, will we apologize for the train bombings in Madrid, Spain? If not Spain, will we apologize for suicide bombings in buses, restaurants and other public places? If not suicide bombings, will we apologize for the barbaric beheadings of human beings? If not beheadings, will we apologize for the rape and murder of thousands of innocent people in Darfour? If not Darfour, will we apologize for the blowing up of two Russian planes by Muslim women? What will we apologize for? What will it take for Muslims to realize that those who commit mass murder in the name of Islam are not just a few fringe elements? What will it take for Muslims to realize that we are facing a crisis that is more deadly than the Aids epidemic? What will it take for Muslims to realize that there is a large evil movement that is turning what was a peaceful religion into a cult?
Will Muslims wake up before it is too late? Or will we continue blaming the Jews and an imaginary Jewish conspiracy? The blaming of all Muslim problems on Jews is a cancer that is destroying Muslim society from within and it must stop.
Muslims must look inward and put a stop to many of our religious leaders who spend most of their sermons teaching hatred, intolerance and violent jihad. We should not be afraid to admit that as Muslims we have a problem with violent extremism. We should not be afraid to admit that so many of our religious leaders belong behind bars and not behind a pulpit. Only moderate Muslims can challenge and defeat extremist Muslims. We can no longer afford to be silent. If we remain silent to the extremism within our community then we should not expect anyone to listen to us when we complain of stereotyping and discrimination by non-Muslims; we should not be surprised when the world treats all of us as terrorists; we should not be surprised when we are profiled at airports. Simply put, not only do Muslims need to join the war against terror, we need to take the lead in this war.
As to apologizing, we will no longer wait for our religious leaders and intellectuals to do the right thing. Instead, we will start by apologizing for 9-11. We are so sorry that 3000 people were murdered in our name. We will never forget the sight of people jumping from two of the highest buildings in the world hoping against hope that if they moved their arms fast enough that they may fly and survive a certain death from burning. We are sorry for blaming 9-11 on a Jewish or right wing conspiracy. We are so sorry for the murder of more than three hundred school children and adults in Russia. We are so sorry for the murder of train passengers in Spain. We are so sorry for all the victims of suicide bombings. We are so sorry for the beheadings, abductions, rapes, violent Jihad and all the atrocities committed by Muslims around the world. We are so sorry for a religious education that raised killers rather than train people to do good in the world. We are sorry that we did not take the time to teach our children tolerance and respect for other people. We are so sorry for not rising up against the dictators who have ruled the Muslim world for decades. We are so sorry for allowing corruption to spread so fast and so deep in the Muslim world that many of our youth lost hope. We are so sorry for allowing our religious leaders to relegate women to the status of forth class citizens at best and sub-humans at worse.
We are so sorry.

Most normal people don't spend this much time on the Internet. My wife converted me after I watched her for a year spending ridiculous amounts of time in the evenings on FreeRepublic. I used to wonder what kind of crazy woman I'd married (mind you, I was the one who was more political when we met). Now I'm hooked and trying squeeze time for soccer practice and walking the dog and bathing the kids and work into my FReep schedule. But I will check out KinkySucker.com, thanks for the referral. ;-)
Maybe I didn't make myself clear, but I figured one way or another you weren't getting what I was meaning to say ... no hard feelings and for the record I'm glad to be abnormal. Or would it be better to say "super-normal"?
The Free Muslim Coalition against Terrorism was one of the first groups to step forward and assist us with our efforts on todays National March Against Terror. You have no idea the danger this group has put themselves in by publically coming out against the murderers and religious fanatics who maim innocent children and call for fatwa at the mere suggestion of rebellion in their ranks.
While you sit comfortably behind your keyboards, throwing out all manner of unthinking bile, real people are out in the real world trying to make a difference and put themselves in real danger doing so.
Today, our NMAT rally in LA was organized by Ted Hayes, a good friend who has been relentless in his support of the troops and condemnation of Muslim extremism...he has a fatwa on his head.
Thank you.
Yup! I just ordered a big fat pizza. Want a slice?:)
I didn't think there were any veiled references - they seemed pretty straight forward to me.
So, what did you do today?
First I watched the some of the parents of the 9/11 victims read their kids names, and my wife and I cried at that. Then I went out and took pictures of some volunteer firefighters who are finishing their training today. Then I went to draft teams for the Rec. Dept. soccer league I'm coaching in (looks like I've got a really good team this year). Then I came home and played baseball with my sons and the neighbor kids in the front yard, and picked up some pine cones and sticks that Florence so kindly dropped in the yard so that I can cut the grass tomorrow. I was in and out of the house, and with nearly each trip I stopped to see what was going on on FreeRepublic. Watched a little of the Georgia-South Carolina game, took my middle son to bed and read two chapters from "The Search for Delicious" to him. All in all, it was a pretty good day.
Now, are you going to question my patriotism?
So, let's see some action.
I'll believe you when I see some of you "moderate" moslems turning in your radical, hate-filled imams to the FBI, and when I see that Christian churches can function in your country of origin unmolested.
Until then, I am in an extremely defensive and suspicious posture toward you, I don't care how "moderate" of a moslem you claim to be.
This sounds just like the graceless vengence of the Muslim extremists we supposedly abhor.
These people apologized. If we want God to forgive us, we need to learn to forgive others...ESPECIALLY when they ask for forgiveness.
I am questioning their motives. Why did it take three years? Has any Islamic cleric issued a fatwa against bin Laden?
HOW long have you been here and you are just now realizing that????????????
Notice that not ONCE is Israel named in this stuff.
When it is made reference to, the paragraph says something about suicide bombings in public places.
The pathology is so deeply ingrained that even when apologizing for atrocities in Israel, they cannot mention Israel.
When a Raghead, from anywhere, can not only apologize for terrorism, but also apologize for the crap they have put the Israelis through, then perhaps I might accept it.
In the meantime Camel-humpers, this is one (former) NY'er that managed to escape on 9/11 and I don't give a rat's backside --- an apology just won't cut it. You are uncivilized barbarians....
The problem with Islam is that it is spread by the sword. Personally, I think it's the Bizarro version of the Old and New Testaments. A rewrite by Mohammed for his own ends. If they were peaceful, and howled at the moon, I would consider it their own affair. Alas, their jihadistans do not spread a message of peace.
It is TRULY SAD, that Those who would Kill Themselves have Virtually NO Knowlege of the Society or Culture They would "Kill Themselves For," nor can they understand the Complex Society "in Whose Name" they commit a Horribly Worthless & Likely "TragiComic" Act.
In American Culture, "Suicide" is ALWAYS a "Pitiful Act of a 'Loser!!'"
There IS NO "Noble SUICIDE!!"
ANY "JACKASS" who attempts "Suicide" is ALWAYS regarded as a "TOTAL LOSER!!"
The Suicidal Morons of 9/11 will ALWAYS be Regarded as Such; Psychotic FOOLS who Murdered Thousands because they were TOO STUPID to question the Murderous Premeses of Their "Faith," "In Whose Name," Many Thousands had been Killed.
9/11 was an ORGASM for a small group of Psychopaths unconcerned about the Consequences.
We are NOT "Dealing With" people interested in Political or Sociological effects; we are "Dealing With" Psychopaths ONLY "Interested in" psychosexual effects!
It's TIME we faced the True Sickness of our Adversaries!
Doc
You got out of the towers? Congratulations in the most appropriate form... It's good that you made it.
WRT the rest of your post, I did notice the non-naming of Israel, though he DID say that the Jewish Conspiracy theory was bogus and should be discarded. He's a Pali, so I would guess that thinking of Israel as a nameless place may have been beaten into him from childhood, I dunno. However, as much as many of us here have been calling for such a statement from muslims ever since 9-11, it IS a good start. I will accept it in the spirit it was offered, even as I keep my powder dry and ready for the ragheads who do NOT think these were bad things that this guy has denounced and apologized for...
Nice grzaphic, Mike!
