On October 12, 2002, a bomb blamed on Islamic militants destroyed a nightclub on the Indonesian island of Bali, killing 202 people, many of them foreign tourists.....I am not sure if this was included in the listing of incidents that have occured on October 12th.
Let's hope that the remainder of the day is un-eventful.
Gold up to: $414 per oz. One month ago it was $400. The last time it was near $414 was in '95.
United 909 has landed safely. No escort of any kind in the air or on the ground. I watched fly by about 8 miles to my NW.
FBI to Interview PA Muslims (10/11/04)
PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Oct. 11, 2004 The FBI will interview Muslims in Pennsylvania because the agency has received information about possible terrorist attacks before the Nov. 2 election, Islamic community groups said Monday.
The president of the Islamic Council of Greater Pittsburgh informed Muslims of the FBI's intent to interview 44 people in the region and has tried to educate residents of their legal rights, council President Clifton Omar Slater said.
In Philadelphia, FBI agents met last week with Arab and Muslim leaders and civil liberties lawyers to discuss plans for increased police action and investigation in the weeks leading up to the election.
FBI agents have been conducting similar interviews nationwide.
In a statement that informed Muslims of the impending interviews, Slater warned the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement intends to arrest at least 30 Muslims because of visa violations or because they are in the country illegally. Slater said he doesn't know how many of those Muslims are also on the FBI's interview list.....
How is that for realtime news reporting.
Please pray they do a thorough job in Philly!!!!

Pakistan Test Fires
Nuclear-Capable Missile
10-12-4
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) -- Pakistan successfully test-fired on Tuesday an intermediate-range ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads as parts of its efforts to boost its defences, a military statement said.
Nuclear-armed Pakistan conducts regular missile tests, despite a revived peace process with nuclear rival India. The last time Pakistan test-fired a nuclear-capable missile was on June 4.
"Pakistan this morning carried out another successful test of the indigenously produced intermediate range ballistic missile Hatf V (Ghauri)," the statement said.
It said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz witnessed the test of the surface-to-surface missile, which has a range of 1,500 km (940 miles).
In March, Pakistan test-fired the Shaheen II ballistic missile with a range of 2,000 km (1,250 miles). It said the missile was capable of carrying nuclear warheads to every corner of India.
Pakistan tested its first nuclear bomb in 1998 and says its weapons programme is a response to that of India, with which it has fought three wars since both countries won independence from Britain in 1947.
Ghauri and Shaheen are different versions of a Pakistani missile series named Hatf, which is a reference to an ancient Islamic weapon.
Pakistan first test-fired the Ghauri missile in April 1998. India and Pakistan carried out nuclear tests the following month.
The Ghauri missile were formally inducted into the military in January 2003.
The missile was developed by Khan Research Laboratories, Pakistan's main uranium-enrichment facility, which was named for Abdul Qadeer Khan, the once-revered as the father of the country's atom bomb.
Khan was sacked this year from his job as a special government adviser after he admitted to exporting nuclear secrets to Iran, Libya and North Korea.
Some experts say the Ghauri missile was developed with North Korean help in return for nuclear know-how, but Pakistan denies the link and says it is indigenously produced.

This makes me very nervous. My son will be returning from Belarus and Latvia on Friday on that same United flight.
If you hear anything on Friday, please ping me. I will be a nervous mother until he is safely back in Rapid City.
Is this giving you any deja vous like it is me? I recall similar talk of "big news" emanating from the UK last year or so.
What I am recalling was discussed right here on TM and nothing materialised at the time. No matter what, if we do get some major announcement, I do hope it proves positive for GWB and Tony Blair.
You can also get an inflated gut area from kidney disease. Maybe usama appears pregant! There was that terror alert about men dressing as females...and one before that about pregnant females.
please add me to ping list, thanks
I should add to my post to clarify: I am not referring to the eom / daleel posts last fall where it was intimated that events would start in Britain. That is separate and different.
What I am vaguely recalling is someone posted a post from somewhere else here on TM at the time -- whether it was last year or earlier this year. There was news that was to happen and it didn't; it was a posting similar to what UK posted in that it mentioned mobilisation of the media, etc.
Does anyone recall that?
RE #4025
Thanks for the update and good news!
There was a post over at GLP a few months ago from an alleged media insider, claiming as I recall that various bigwigs in the BBC had been put on major standby for a big announcement.
Needless to say this didnt amount to anything and was probably a hoax.
Was this the story you were thinking of?
