The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Muslim group takes responsibility for 9-11: 'We are so sorry'

This September 11 marks the third unforgettable anniversary of the worst mass murder in American history.

After September 11, many in the Muslim world chose denial and hallucination rather than face up to the sad fact that Muslims perpetrated the 9-11 terrorist acts and that we have an enormous problem with extremism and support for terrorism. Many Muslims, including religious leaders, and "intellectuals" blamed 9-11 on a Jewish conspiracy and went as far as fabricating a tale that 4000 Jews did not show up for work in the World Trade Center on 9-11. Yet others blamed 9-11 on an American right wing conspiracy or the U.S. Government which allegedly wanted an excuse to invade Iraq and "steal" Iraqi oil.

Suspicious Device Found In San Jose Park

Sept. 22 (BCN) — The San Jose Police Department's Bomb Squad is attempting to safely contain a suspicious device today at a city park, according to Officer Gina Tepoorten.

Patrol officers were dispatched at 9:23 a.m. to Flickinger Park located just off of Flickinger Avenue after a city worker reportedly found a metal container possibly containing a fuse.

The officers confirmed the device as being suspicious, and subsequently called the bomb squad.

Tepoorten said the device was located at the north side of the park near the backstop of a baseball field.

The bomb squad has determined that the device is a scuba oxygen tank with a fuse attached to it.....

A Media Revolution
—Hugh Hewitt

As many of you know, I am a blogger, meaning I maintain an Internet Web log at hughhewitt.com where I post--sometimes many times a day--my thoughts on breaking news and links to important stories. There are hundreds of thousands of blogs, and their number and quality are growing.

Bloggers brought about the exposure of the CBS memos fraud and they served a crucial role in bringing some of the key allegations by the Swift Boat Vets about John Kerry top the public attention. In both cases the bloggers--along with talk radio--prompted mainstream media, especially television, to pay attention to stories that left-leaning journalists would have preferred to let die out in obscurity.

A genuine media revolution is underway, and as a smart consumer of information, you should be involved. It is a new age when it comes to news gathering. Americans no longer have to rely on old media whose reputation for favoring the left is, especially now, all too clear.

I'm pretty sure your list is just the tip of the Ice Berg. I didn't see South Florida on it & that is where the Prof. was fund raising for the Palestinians and Hamas. As left wing as the so called 'scholars' at our universities are, I imagined a detailed search would turn up donors to Palestinian causes at almost every major university.

In regards to the report I posted.......It is a Dept. of Defense study from 1977 that is posted on the Princeton (and many other University sites). I doubt very serously if the writers of the study have much to do with Princeton.

Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread Nineteen, JustPiper wrote:

http://www.ready.gov/nuclear.html

A nuclear blast is an explosion with intense light and heat, a damaging pressure wave and widespread radioactive material that can contaminate the air, water and ground surfaces for miles around. During a nuclear incident, it is important to avoid radioactive material, if possible. While experts may predict at this time that a nuclear attack is less likely than other types, terrorism by its nature is unpredictable.

IF THERE IS A NUCLEAR BLAST

If there is advanced warning of an attack:

Take cover immediately, as far below ground as possible, though any shield or shelter will help protect you from the immediate effects of the blast and the pressure wave.

If there is no warning:

1. Quickly assess the situation.
2. Consider if you can get out of the area or if it would be better to go inside a building to limit the amount of radioactive material you are exposed to.
3. If you take shelter go as far below ground as possible, close windows and doors, turn off air conditioners, heaters or other ventilation systems. Stay where you are, watch TV, listen to the radio, or check the Internet for official news as it becomes available.
4. To limit the amount of radiation you are exposed to, think about shielding, distance and time.

* Shielding: If you have a thick shield between yourself and the radioactive materials more of the radiation will be absorbed, and you will be exposed to less.
* Distance: The farther away you are away from the blast and the fallout the lower your exposure.
* Time: Minimizing time spent exposed will also reduce your risk.

Use available information to assess the situation. If there is a significant radiation threat, health care authorities may or may not advise you to take potassium iodide. Potassium iodide is the same stuff added to your table salt to make it iodized. It may or may not protect your thyroid gland, which is particularly vulnerable, from radioactive iodine exposure. Consider keeping potassium iodide in your emergency kit, learn what the appropriate doses are for each of your family members. Plan to speak with your health care provider in advance about what makes sense for your family.

For more information, see Potassium Iodide from Centers for Disease Control.

For more general information, see "Are you Ready?" from Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The first day we saw the fan patterned contrails there was some jet that seemed to be hanging around and I wondered if it was doing casual circles around the area too.

"No. If Japan gets hit, the world's largest repository of plutonium (that has yet to develop nuclear weapons)which
is also (with the exception of the U.S.) the world's most technically advanced nation, goes nuclear in a matter of
weeks if not days."

I suspect they are already nuclear "in pectore".

This is a follow-up on the TM alert. Fox news has apparently reported exceptionally high traffic on jihidi websites. This activity could be a precursor to an attack, operating off of the old 'loose lips sink ships' rule. To assist in that analysis those who have the capability to monitor sites need to look for and record the following items. For each scrutinized site please report / look for:

1. Identity of the message board / url

2. Is the message traffic higher / lower than usual (this requires some consistent tracking of the site) and what is the normal level of traffic.

3. Topics discussed (such as the beheading videos, etc).

4. Unusual discussions, topics, comments, references that is out of the norm (this too normally requires some consistent tracking of the site), trying to talk around subjects that seem out of context.

5. Identification / screen name of individual(s) making or responding to suspicious posts.

6. Screen name of who seems to be the leader of the board.

7. Dates and times of suspicious message postings.

I'd recommend that you keep these notes yourself for your reference and forward the data to TM. Save a copy of suspecious posts. We will need to be sensitive and ready to report to FBI / DHS any suspicious postings for their evaluation.
