NEW YORK -- Yesterday, Goliath CBS News was delivered a smooth stone to the forehead by a FReeper.
A poster in the FreeRepublic.com conservative news forum mentioned something peculiar about two documents CBS’s 60 Minutes claimed on September 8 were generated by now deceased Lieutenant Colonel Jerry B. Killian regarding an allegedly National Guard-evading George W. Bush in 1973.
Within minutes following the broadcast, FReeper "TankerKC" wrote this to FReeper "Howlin'":
WE NEED TO SEE THOSE MEMOS AGAIN!

Since then, news of the potential forgery glitch spread like wildfire from blog to blog and into the mainstream press - especially that of CBS competitors ABC and NBC.

This is a cover-up at ALL COSTS to prevent ANYONE from discovering who brought forth these memos in the first place.
This should NOT BE A SECRET.
This should be told to us be CBS and it should be TOLD NOW.
If the DNC or their operatives, or the kerry campaign is involved in this horror....WE DESERVE TO KNOW!
Dan brought this story out and put in the faces of the American PEOPLE. We do NOT have to take HIS WORD that the sources are 'UNIMPEACHABLE' because this is NOT A MATTER of national security but it IS a SMEAR against our President.
If Dan Rather and his band of liars CANNOT bring themselves to support their attack on the President, then CBS is proving itself to be an arm of the DNC....that they will DO NOTHING favorable for a conservative, even if it means the loss of their reputations as journalists.
It is so simple.
WHERE DID THE MEMO COME FROM, WHO DELIEVERED IT, WHY WERE THOSE CLOSEST TO GW IGNORED IN THE STORY (I mean this is all based on what a man who is DEAD reportedly did), and WHY WOULD DAN RATHER DO THIS WITHOUT A BALANCING THE INVESTIGATION?

Last night, Tony Snow was filing in for O'Reilly and he had Steven Heyes and a former CBS Producer (can't remember his name) the CBS guy made a comment about bloggers sitting home in their pajamas thinking they know the real story. Steven called it a cheap shot at bloggers
I suspect the signatures are forgeries too.
Look at the top arm of the "K" in Killian for the known vs. the SeeBS versions:

In the known versions, just study the capital K features:
- The upper arms are convex up or straight
- Have a forward hook (convex up) a the end in most cases which complements the arch bow of the main upper arm.
- The lower arm attachment is orthogonal to the top arm
- the lower arm is created by a separate pen stroke
- the lower arm is a prominent element that the signer had pride in making.
The 3 CBS documents do not follow these patterns:
- The upper arm bow is convex down, a hammering descrepancy.
- The hook on the upper arm is backward, another hammering descrepancy, but which also complements the descrepancy of the upper arm bow!
- The lower arm is a vestigial element, in all 3 versions, not showing the rich, bold, pride of the signer in the authenticated versions.
