In an effort to improve its image, CBS announces a replacement for Dan Rather.

Now THAT'S funny!

we should pressure CBS to submit the originals for true forensic analysis, I think we all know what the answer will be.

Nice thought, but remember..... these guys don't play by the same rules the rest of us are expected to play by. It's like asking John Kerry to hail a taxi!

How long until the White House fully appreciates the power of the 'Net to bypass the biased media and starts scheduling regular live chats in addition to the usual press conferences with the howling liberal reporters?

There would have to be some minimal credentialing to ensure that feces-throwing leftists didn't get access, but that would still leave open the opportunity for Joe and Jane average American to ask questions.

When one recognizes the opportunity for the White House to employ the full range of 'Net options -- chats, blogs, message boards, posted video on the White House web site, and so forth -- to get their unfiltered message out, it becomes very clear the MSM as we know it is facing obscolescence.

The early stages have already arrived.

Just a couple more steps forward and they won't need the MSM at all.

It seems there is no original. CBS had a "copy". Plausible deniability? That will probably be their excuse. Now the left is offering rewards to prove Pres. Bush did not complete his obligations. They will do or say anything now to just deflect the story.

I have a question for you? Is it possible that some pro-Bush person or group put those memos together in the hopes that it would get some legs, only to have the legs knock out from underneath it?

God I hope so. We need people this clever to keep groups like al-Qaeda off balance.

And if CBS and Terry McAuliffe and Dan Rather and John Kerry can be duped so easily, they are clearly not up to the task.

The "copy" issue is a non-starter. This is not the old days when you had to match mechanical imperfections to a specific typewriter. This is a case where certain typesetting features taken for granted in word processing programs simply weren't available at any price in 1972.

On that I will bet the whole enchalada,

Is it just coincidence that Kerry goes to Clinton early this week to find out how he can get his Vietnam antics out of the news cycle and then on Wednesday all hell breaks loose?

According to Dan, it's possible that the TANG had access to the most advanced printing machine of its day and used this machine for "memos to the file."

ROTFLMAO

Say gnite Dan, and turn out the lights, cos its OVER.

I'm thinking this could be the beginning of turning the Titanic... finally ordinary citizens are in a position to hold journalists' feet to the fire and show them we want truth in News as well as Advertising and when they try to "spin" they are going to be outed.

Look at this week alone: First it was the false AP report on the booing and now Rather. Four years ago this would have stood and the huge number of people that only get cursory news reports and vote without knowing the real facts will, hopefully, start hearing the truth -- and maybe, just maybe, George Bush will start to look like the good man he really is to more and more American's...

Well... didn't they say a couple of weeks ago that he was a great poker player at Harvard? Looks like the stories are true..... it also looks like the man upstairs is looking after him; I bet we even catch Osama within the next few weeks.

These are really, really, really stupid forgeries. CBS had to seriously want them to be true. Anyone planting on them would have to be relying on CBS wanting them so bad that they wouldn't check them. And that's even more stupid than the forgeries.

This thought has also crossed my mind. These forgeries are just so incredibly poor that I had to ask myself "why?" Why would anybody expect to get away with such a slipshod effort? Of course, the left is now in full panic, thus giving a possible explanation for such stupid forgeries. If I were a gambling man, my money would be on a leftist rush-job. Not Rove or any Republican operative.

In the end, however, I agree with you: the question of who created the doctored memos is now of little importance. Dan Rather and CBS, along with the rest of the mainstream media, have been exposed for the charlatans they are.

Hmm, a few minutes ago CNN Headline News said that some former Japanese govt. official said GW had told him a while back that his father had pulled strings to get him into the Texas Air National Guard. It's early...sorry, didn't get the name of the Japanese man or his rank.

Note to any MSM lurking here: Are you really surprised at memogate? Are you paying attention to who is now running the Kerry campaign? Can you say Clinton thugs? Have you forgotten the Clinton era of "politics of personal destruction"? Have you forgotten the thugs playbook of "tell the lie long enough and it will be believed" -- "don't attack the message, attack the messenger"? Wake up MSM, the Clinton thugs are still operating in pre-9/11 days. Do you know today is SEPTEMBER 11, 2004?

Begin, who created these "documents" is of supreme importance, if we assume they are forgeries, which they are.

Think of the implications. A real crime has been committed and a real propaganda fraud is being perpetrated, on the level of the Reichstag fire. Who is involved? Is the Kerry campaign behind the forged documents?

It is of paramount importance that CBS identifies their "experts" and the source of the memos. The fact that they won't means their case is extremely weak. They are afraid.
