Retired Maj. General Hodges, Killian's supervisor at the Grd, tells ABC News that he feels CBS misled him about the documents they uncovered. According to Hodges, CBS told him the documents were "handwritten" and after CBS read him excerpts he said, "well if he wrote them that's what he felt."

And nothing will come of this. I will be surprised if anybody is fired, or anyone gets in trouble .
This is excellent. We also have the other networks consulting their own experts, according to what I have read.
Well, of all days for me to be busy with other things! I am going to be up late simply trying to catch up!
Very good catch!
heres how, <img src="http insert addy to where the pic is stored"
just make sure you close the tag though!and dont leave spaces.
Rather may end up in the loony bin within the next 7 days. He's falling apart. This stunt tonight was the dumbest thing he could possibly have done. He is either intentionally lying the whole way through, or he believes it, in which case he is insane, and the pressure of the contrary truth coming at him from every where will cause him to have a nervous breakdown.
Mwuhahahahahahaha!!! Mwuhahahahahah!! Mwuhahahahahah!!!!!
WOW! No kidding! Some of the pilots from Bush's National Guard station WERE FLYING in Vietnam? Is that what this means?
bump
The problem for Rather, other than his bias and lack of credibilty, is that he and CBS are now the butt of jokes and ridicule, which is no laughing matter to the suits. Rather has got to be feeling the heat over this. I wouldn't be surprised to see a reorganization in the near future that gives Rather a new "assignment".
MAJOR GENERAL PAUL H. HODGES
Retired July 1, 1987.
Major General Paul H. Hodges is director of the Inter-American Defense College, Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington D.C.
General Hodges was born in 1930, in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco and then attended Oberlin (Ohio) College until the outbreak of the Korean War. He enrolled in the aviation cadet program and received his commission as a second lieutenant in December 1952. Because the "original" handwritten document is ALSO a forgery; by replicating it on a WP and letting everyone wail away at it as a "forgery" for a week, they can say "well, the original is really hard to read -- it's 30 years old and has been copied many times -- so someone replicated it to make it easier to read, but we've seen the handwritten copies." And then they'll announce that the "forgery" issue has been refuted, and act like the documents are valid.
Notice the wording of Rather's remarks tonite: "people are focussing on the documents instead of what they say..." I smell a sneaky trick about to be sprung, and this explains why Rather isn't backing down. They are going to proclaim the originals WERE handwritten, and that all this internet frenzy about "forgeries" is "much ado about nothing".....
It also explains why they had a handwriting analyst instead of a document analyst as an expert, and why they only showed him examining the signature.....
The "bait and switch" is about to be played on us....
CBS will not fire Dan Rather, either out of cowardice or obstinacy.
But if the cries for someone's head get too loud, especially from advertisers, Mary Mapes' head will be the one that rolls.
It's been an incredible evening. And I wouldn't know where to tell you to begin. I can't even keep up and I've been here all night, LOL!
Good Luck in catching up -- I was here most of the day instead of doing what I had intended and I have had trouble keeping up. I read a thread and before I know it, I am a 100 posts behind and I am a fast reader!
This one here is one of the best -- they didn't tell Hodges they were typed -- doesn't get any better than that!
I said last night that the next Rather assignment will be on the beach covering IVAN
ABC and the other MSM smell blood in the water and are going after CBS...they are fighting over the same shrinking pool of viewers/readers. This has little to do with credibility (they have none) and more to do with plunging the dagger deeper to a competitor.
"Rather reported tonight that the network's document consultant "believes they are real, but is concerned about exactly what is being examined by some of the people now questioning the documents, because deterioration occurs each time a document is reproduced, and the documents being analyzed outside of CBS have been photocopied, faxed, scanned, and downloaded, and are far removed from the documents CBS started with, which were also photocopies."
I love it...they certainly can't come back now and say that the documents were handwritten
Would somebody please call the coroner, Mr. Rather is dead.
WRONG..Rather is prolly loving all the attention...those Socialist/Liberals?DemoncRATS just LOVE getting attention, any attention.
He can't do that since he based his entire rebuttal on the fact that typewriters of the era had the features being questioned.
