The Bridge People Regulars of Outpost 122 - the folks out every weekend at the Camp Murray/Madigan Army Medical Center overpass at Interstate 5 - will have a 48-hour "Vigil for Victory" beginning at 6 p.m. today.
The group is also trying to collect 1,000 "Letters for Liberty" - letters from citizens around the community to soldiers in Washington state-based units in Iraq, organizer Florence Dix said.
She said the group is especially trying to reach area residents who don't have loved ones deployed with the military who might be looking for a way to support the troops. Dix said the group is aiming to gather 1,000 cards or letters that will be forwarded to local soldiers.
The bridge regulars are not to be confused with Operation Support Our Troops, which has scheduled a rally from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the same freeway overpass.
"We're two totally different groups," Dix said. They started at about the same time, in early 2003, but Operation Support Our Troops has moved on to work on different projects around the Puget Sound region.
The Bridge People Regulars, as the name implies, focus exclusively on support-the-troops rallies every weekend at the overpass.
As for Saturday's concurrent events, "there's room for all of us on the bridge," Dix said.

Welcome to FRee Republic! That last part of your name isn't something to do with a German warship is it?
I just got that...funny
Sounds like a great day. I won't be able to join you, I have a funeral to go to down in Olympia. As I drive under the overpass I will honk and flash my lights.
Best of luck. Here's another effort going on right now.

No joke. Thats a number from a collectible warship replica. I have a cousin into it big time. I figured it was either that or an airplane registration. I'll be on Exit 122 approx 1300, maybe I'll see ya.
