The CBS FraudGate episode once again has proven how important FR is to the conservative cause. Although blogs are taking credit for it, all here know the investigation was started on the Forum before the CBS program had ended, most of the blogs were merely picking up on the information posted here.

Free Republic has always been supported by it's fans and readers. It takes no advertising, has no sugar daddies and is beholden to no one. Jim has always stated he will keep this thing going as long as the participants believe it is worthwhile. To pay the bills, a fine group of people run a quarterly "FReepathon". They can run up to several weeks, divert our attention and are labor intensive.

You can help put FR on a solid financial basis by signing up as monthly donor. Whether you are new participant, have never supported FR or have regularly contributed quarterly, please consider becoming a "monthly". Five or ten dollars a month via credit card can be a painless way to insure the long term health of this site. Don't you thnk Free Republic is worth it?

All FR needs is about 500-700 more people donating $10 /month and FReepathons are a thing of the past!

This is another reason that FR needs more donors. Servers aren't free.

And, personally, I'd like to see, even if it took a special fund raiser, an extra server or two held in reserve for overload crises or crash problems.

It seems we certainly need to add a server or 3 between now and election time.

[actually, am more like a semi-starving prof helping step-dad care for my Alzheimer's mother. He covers the basics. The Jr College here has 18 part time psych profs. Keeps their costs low but means most of us only get one class. And, I'm hoping to be back in Taipei teaching full time again by fall 2005. In the mean time, my own incidentals, church and FR stretch me. Not a big deal. Just frustrates me that I can't do more--especially this election year.]
