Rush reports that CNN interviewed Rather at about noon easter. Rather's voice played on air, and Rather stands behind the 60 Minutes report. Rather says teh story is true, and he believes the documents are authentic. Rather thinks Bush needs to answer the charges raised by the documents.
At the same time, Terry McAuliffe is asserting that CBS was set-up by Karl Rove. So, here is the DNC saying the docs are forgeries, and CBS is saying teh documents are authentic.
This is really an amazing story.

Yeah, and don't think Rather doesn't know what McAwful is saying. Basically, CBS and the DNC have tried to press this fraud as a win-win for them. Either they're real and Bush must answer or their fake and Bush must answer why he made them.
Unbelievable. And Rather--who knows where he got the documents is letting them get away with it.

Terry McAuliffe is asserting that CBS was set-up by Karl Rove. Like I said on the other thread, this is going to be the official Democratic line. "KKKarl Rove did it."

At the same time, Terry McAuliffe is asserting that CBS was set-up by Karl Rove. So, here is the DNC saying the docs are forgeries, and CBS is saying the documents are authentic. How bizarre! The article Bush Lied on democrats.org says President Bush needs to answer the questions that are raised by the documents, but McAuliffe says the documents are forgeries?
Why should anyone have to answer charges based on phony documents? Where is the logic?!!!

What Rather "believes" and what Rather can "prove" is the story.
Until he does, the story stops at the forgery charges.

Bush needs to answer the charges raised by the documentsWhich charges would be what, exactly? If I happen to have influential friends, e.g. "Dad", who pulled strings for me - but didn't break any laws - what am I supposed to answer? My answer would be, "If someone can identify who, exactly, influenced this situation, I would suggest that you direct questions to that individual."

Even if Karl Rove set up the DNC who passed them along to CBS doesn't mean that they had to be stupid enough to fall for them.

Does Rather think Kerry needs to answer the questions posed by the Swifties? I think not.
To: Cboldt
I have heard dems rant and rave all day about the fact that so what if these are not real we still need to answer the questions they raise. Well here is one for them...if these are not real then do they raise any questions at all? If that is all they have got they are done. I will just never understand that logic. If I created a memo saying Bush fathered my children and gave it to CBS then it was proven that I made it up would there be any true questions raised? What morons!

I hate to disappoint everyone but the majority of this story is not getting to the majority of the general public. Most have no awareness or comprehension of what is going on.
Sadly to say all the Freepers who did so much are like special forces operators... their role was so critically important but few will ever attribute anything to them.
Thanks to all who did such a great service.
