Wolf Blitzer slamming CBS. Interviewing WP reporter. Both are saying that CBS HAS TO COME FORWARD with where they got the papers and who were their authenticators.

Rush just played a clip of Dan Rather categorically saying the documents are not forgeries (he was interviewed on the street outside CBS headquarters). DAN IS GOING DOWN! HE IS STAKING HIS ENTIRE CREDIBILITY ON THIS ALREADY DISPROVEN STORY.

how does he know this?
if he is guessing, its a bad guess I think, the Kerry camp cannot be this stupid.

Limbaugh also reported, citing the
American Spectator's Prowler column, that there were people at CBS who had doubts about the memos, too.
What's the provenance, Kenneth?

Oh, please. Like a bunch of amateurs on the Internet would be able to figure out something that CBS News stuck its neck out over and never thought to investigate. Riiight.

More than six weeks ago, an opposition research staffer for the Democratic National Committee received documents purportedly written by President George W. Bush's Texas Air National Guard squadron commander, the late Col. Jerry Killian.
The oppo researcher claimed the source was "a retired military officer." According to a DNC staffer, the documents were seen by both senior staff members at the DNC, as well as the Kerry campaign.
"More than a couple people heard about the papers," says the DNC staffer. "I've heard that they ended up with the Kerry campaign, for them to decide to how to proceed, and presumably they were handed over to 60 Minutes, which used them the other night. But I know this much. When there was discussion here, there were doubts raised about their authenticity."

Shouldn't he give credit where credit is due? Thanks Al Gore, creator of the internet!!!

Rush reports that CNN interviewed Rather at about noon easter. Rather's voice played on air, and Rather stands behind the 60 Minutes report. Rather says teh story is true, and he believes the documents are authentic. Rather thinks Bush needs to answer the charges raised by the documents.
At the same time, Terry McAuliffe is asserting that CBS was set-up by Karl Rove. So, here is the DNC saying the docs are forgeries, and CBS is saying teh documents are authentic.
This is really an amazing story.

If the documents are confirmed as forgeries, then CBS obviously has no legitimate reason to protect their "sources". The public has a right to know EVERYTHING about how they came into possession of the docs. If CBS won't come clean, we need a UK-style investigation (BBC / Lord Hutton / http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3437315.stm/ ) to determine exactly how forgers attempted to use a major news network to influence an American presidential election.

Rush said that if the documents are proven to be fake, then Rather and CBS were set up by their friends - the dems and Kerry campaign. They used CBS and Rather to smear Bush with those lies.
