As I've posted previously, and to which multiple Freepers have added, the Bush "Memos" recently created by CBS and Dan Rather to discredit the president are a mess of fraud that could have been created only by someone with zero familiarity of the military.
Below are real military documents from the same era (1971-1973). These real documents instantly show the fraud in the badly-written forgeries that CBS used to "prove" George Bush failed to meet his Guard obligations. Military orders were, and are, extremely formal, with typeset letterhead; boxed format; numbered items for completion; a formal, must-be-used reference block; multiple check boxes; and often a requirement that the receiving officer sign the document in ackowledgment (especially when being threatened with grounding). Notice the absense of justified type, superscripts (abbreviations are in regular font), the strict use of DDMMYY and caps, careful CC" list for other offices, and "by direction" -- a senior officer never typed his own orders to a subordinate, let alone misspelled his own rank abbreviation.
Now campare these to the junk created by James Carville. Pathetic. And yet Dan Rather used Carville's junk to try and smear the president.
Watergate put people in prison and cost Richard Nixon his presidency. Memogate is bigger than Watergate. This should finish off the Kerry campaign and send some CBS News staffers to the big house.
AND DONT LET seeBS OFF THE HOOK BY SAYING THAT THEY TALKED TO SOMEONE WHO TOLD THEM HE KNEW THE PERSON BLAH BLAH...
DAN RATHER STATED THAT THEY HAD THE DOCUMENTS VERIFIED BY DOCUMENT *EXPERTS*
As they reved up the printing presses on Viacom's Bush bashing books they "forgot" to acknowledge their conflicts of interest when promoting these trashy books on 60 Minutes.
If the Mslim terrorists were to take over a US broadcast station how would they have done anything different than Dan Rather?
DU SHILL - Signed up just today!
Thanks for dragging them out.
USN for 26 years. Never had a memo directive for anything important. The whole thing is bogus.
But it does show an important fact, that the MSM and dems are totally military ignorant.
TROLL ALERT!!!
Go back to DU and tell your buddies you are a crappy forger also...."h '0' wlin"
You wanted to know how Muslim terrorists would have acted differently if they took over CBS.
For starters, they would have used a more convincing fake.
Go back to the DU where you belong
Check out Post #3.
A Newbie just registered under the name HOwlin, trying to confuse things and make the real Howlin look bad.
I trust this will be dealt with.
Kerry did it. He never batted an eye to slander any vets service for political ambition.
Watch out for a How1in too. That is a close lookalike.
I think that trick lasted about 60 Seconds, these people are pathetic, LOL.
I wonder how long Dan Rather will stonewall.
His Bush-hatred far exceeds his common sense.
This isn't about 30 years ago. This is about someone THIS MONTH forging military documents to smear a sitting president weeks before an election. This is about THIS WEEK, the best-known TV news outlet (60 Minutes) featured a top-three news anchor (Dan Rather) claiming he had new evidence to wreck the current president. This is about who TODAY must explain the origin of those documents - and whoever actually created these forgeries, it's clearly a very short chain to either Dan Rather or John Kerry, or both. The content is irrelevant now; the method and motivation are everything.
The Watergate burglary was thought just a small-time job until Nixon inexplicably said "no comment". That the oldest, most respected news show on TV tried to bring down President Bush with laughably forged documents is no less.
Rather doesn't want to be burned, so he'll blame his source. His source doesn't want to be burned, so he'll blame...who? Rather or Kerry? major fallout either way.
Check out post 13 also.
