We could pull a bum off the street, blow-dry his hair and put him in a suit and he'd do the job just as well.
Isn't that how Rather got the job?
Their importance is as gatekeepers. They have the largest say in what goes on the air and in what order.
Most of the time anchors are given editorial control. Don't know why, but traditionally the bozo reading from the teleprompter OKed the stories at some level.
Yes, but would that street bum be willing to read what he knows are damnable lies every day? It takes a certain kind of maggot willing to push an agenda to do that and still sleep nights.
Back in the '70's, Esquire magazine did just that. They took a bunch of bums and did before and after shots. Totally mind-blowing. The sleaziest even looked the best when groomed and haberdashed. Hopefully, Dan is about to make the same journey in reverse...
Not really true, Rather has incredible power. He decides which stories are newsworth, and he chooses how to spin the stories. I've heard he's a bully, and megalomaniac. Sometimes I think journalists have waaaay more political power than elected officials.

I'm not a bum, but for a free hair-do, I could do it!
Yes, but could a bum off the street come up eith all those corny, cracker barrel witicisms? Oops, I think I just answered my own question!
